In case you havent noticed, they are losing games either way. And we already have a roster full of guys that don’t play to win. So we should play the vets that are just happy to still draw a pay check, or still have a contract and just don’t give a s%*#? Keeping playing the vets that played themselves to a 46-69 record? That’s somehow your answer?

Is Cease injured this year? Explain that regression. Gio was awful last year. Explain that. Lynn too. Kopech has gone from promising prospect to afterthought, whose stuff has virtually disintegrated. Where is Katz on that? Don't even get me started on the bullpen. I'm not saying Katz is the sole reason for the struggles and regression, but I don't think he is some pitching savant either. To this point he is very replaceable.

The revisionist history here specifically is in the title of the thread. Which has been thoroughly debunked throughout. This thread isn't the first time posters have used revisionist history to pine for Ozzie's return. It is a fairly regular thing around these parts. Sox fans on this board and in the wider public tend to remember the good years Ozzie had. But there were more bad years than good. And a train wreck of a divorce. Ozzie had maybe 4 good years as White Sox manager, all of which were 15+ years ago. We just lived through TLR, yet people want to bring Ozzie back, as if the Ozzie of now is the same one that pulled all of the right strings in 2005. He isn't. And his most recent managerial experience, more than a decade ago, also says that he isn't. But Ozzie's voice, passion, and antiquated baseball knowledge are somehow still relevant, when he hasn't been in a dugout since 2012? I'm sorry, but the parts of the fanbase that pine for Ozzie's return need to look at the TLR experience we just lived through and connect the dots.

The on field results beg to differ.

He's still averaging almost 3 HR/9 and also has a much worse FIP in his 13 LA innings. He had a few nice outings for the Sox after mixing up his pitch arsenal too. We saw how long that lasted.

2008 was how long ago? What relevance does that have now? Tony La Russa won a World Series more recently than Ozzie, and look at the catastrophe he was. Ozzie is just as out of touch with modern baseball as TLR is. What in the hell has Ozzie done in the past 15 years that makes him qualified to manage in Major League Baseball today? What has Ozzie even done to be even remotely relevant to modern baseball? I'll hang up and listen...

Lest we all forget about Nick Swisher, or intentionally playing an Adam Dunn hitting under .150 cleanup just to stick it to KW. Or the rotating Mark Kotsay DH disaster. I'm sure I could think of a few more if I wanted to kill a few more brain cells. Ozzie was a train wreck at the end, negotiated a deal with under team while still under contract here, and didn't even last more than a single year with said team because he couldn't stop running his mouth. He hasn't managed a big league game in longer than a decade, nor has he been willing to coach anywhere in MLB to rehab his rep. The notion that the short of s%*# we are seeing now wouldn't or didn't happen under Ozzie is complete fiction. The Ozzie revisionist history is beyond nonsensical and needs to stop.

His only real value in trade is his cheap team control. And why trade for that when you can find subpar 1B defense with better power numbers in FA?

He was what, 2 homers in August? Leadership baby!

If marketing can convince enough people that he all of these great intangibles, maybe they will look past his paltry numbers or how they wasted a top pick on a maxed out below average 1B?

Ozzie himself was embroiled in all sorts of controversy on his way out. It's laughable to suggest this sort of s%*# wouldn't or didn't happen under his watch. He was the ringleader of his own damn circus at the end.

I just want to know if Rick Hahn still thinks he’s the best person for this job. Cuz it seems pretty obvious to everyone watching that he’s not. Also, when is the parade? We were promised a parade and I still want to talk to him after it… What a silver-tongued bullshit artist…
