  1. Early pinch hitting spot for the wrong reasons seems right.
  2. Never fear Sox fans, he'll be back to sucking with the big club in no time!
  3. Color me utterly shocked Leury isn't playing both. Odds he leads off game 2??
  4. Going up there freelancing. That's a good way to put it. How many times have we said that they have zero plan or approach at the plate?
  5. If there were a player development role on the bench that would suit him perfectly. He’s just terrible at the game day managing part. Not someone you want at the helm after a rebuilding squad takes the next step.
  6. Talking heads would be more accurate. There was plenty of support for the move outside of Chicago is my point. Certainly more criticism in writing than I remember seeing, that I will fully admit.
  7. The ground ball trend over multiple years and multiple teams speaks to some level of negative impact. How quantifiable is certainly up for debate, but it can’t be mere coincidence.
  8. Yeah, uh, half this board celebrated it, including you. And you specifically went out of your way to troll me any time I critiqued him. You don’t get to gaslight me.
  9. Ok, pundit was not the right word. I don’t recall seeing those articles, half of which look like random blog posts to me, but I digress. I do recall loads of praise inside baseball, across various broadcasts praising the hiring of TLR. Point being, it wasn’t universally derided as a stupid move in the baseball world the way many of us diehards believed it to be.
  10. Is Billy Hamilton sneaking a few LH power bats and a few lockdown pen arms back with him in his luggage? Cuz otherwise I’m not so sure a 5th OF gets this team over the hump. As much as I loved Billy here…
  11. I don’t know either, just astounded by those numbers. The pen sucks, but I’m going to guess a fresh arm probably has a better probability of getting outs than a gassed starter who has been through the order a few times.
  12. As stupid as we all knew it was to hire TLR, baseball pundits mostly celebrated the move. Hahn resigning then would have looked bad, or at least curious. Resigning now, falling on his sword amidst a miserable season, and leaving an untenable situation looks better for him IMO than if he left Nov 2020. I still don’t know if another org hires him to be GM after his long tenure of mediocrity here. In any other org he would have been out on his ass before the rebuild, so it’s really hard to say.
  13. Not sure they want to play in October. They look ready for winter vacation.
  14. 3 outs on 7 pitches. Bloody fantastic effort in the 9th.
  15. 2 outs on 5 pitches
  16. Seats at *a* table. Somehow never gets mentioned it was the kiddie table in the den.
  17. Seby was set up inside. That wasn’t intentional.
  18. Brilliant challenge dumbass
  19. And I’m not willing to listen to a flat earth argument ?
  20. Sox don’t get a mega haul, but Gio still has trade value despite some struggles in a weird year. A good team not afraid of a long term commitment to pitchers would happily take him and lock him up for 5+ years at a market rate. The idea that he’s magically a non-tender candidate is so laughably bad that it doesn’t deserve any of the attention given in this thread.
