Sox select John Schriffen to be TV PbP announcer
Wouldn't surprise me if word got around amongst PBP people, and if anyone had other opportunities, they went in that direction. This has dragged on long enough that I have to imagine these finalists have had to do a song and dance to please JR.

Yet we are somehow overrating Cease...

They've spent more time "searching" for a new PBP person than they have their last 5 managers and the current GM combined. Wonder what hoops they are making them jump through for it to take so long.

But who is really going to give up higher end prospects for Santander?

Cease To Padres per Passan
He seemed to be putting it together before he kicked a cooler and broke his foot. The later might give them pause, but who knows.

Cease To Padres per Passan
They're so anxious to trade the vets to keep the kids, failing to recognize that their vets have a fraction of the trade value the prospects do. One good season and they're drunk on their own koolaid.

Cease To Padres per Passan
And there will be zero regression from anyone, especially the younger guys. And Kimbrell will totally make up for the loss of Bautista. It could happen................... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

Most of Steeterville and east Randolph sit on landfill. Last i checked the high-rises haven't fallen over yet.

Funny that the parcel north of Roosevelt and the parcel east of Clark were both completely viable. Ping Tom park and Chinatown Square to the south were both built on the same former rail yards.

The giant screen on the outside of the stadium just SCREAMS JR doesn't it??

Between Madison and 31st, the address numbers don't align with the distance. Madison to Roosevelt is a mile, Roosevelt to Cermak, Cermak to 31st. All of the main streets on the Southside south of 31st line up.

Roosevelt to Cermak is one mile, despite the address numbers. Its a little over 2.5 miles.

The Amtrak tracks are across the river and not a part of the vacant land under consideration. There is an active Metra line along Clark St, but those could be sunk below grade, or covered in a tunnel.

The OF Thread
If they actually care about character, this would be a hard no. We shall see. I know pumping up this shitty franchise is his job, but Chuck’s credibility is really stretching thin this winter.

This is a really good point. This is JR we are talking about. He’s not doing this for the health of the team or to benefit the fans. A new park ups the franchise value, and he sure as hell won’t be the one paying for the new building. It’s all about extracting funds from anyone other than his own pockets.

Correct, but there was a lot of speculation around the time he bought up more land near the United Center. I seem to remember a few articles hinting that they were exploring a move out of GRF around the same time.

Right, I knew the railroads slowly abandoned it after passenger rail was consolidated. Going off of areal photos I’ve seen it was still in use through the early 70s but looks completely abandoned by the late 70s. Either way, it has a long history of failed redevelopment plans going back decades, despite gentrification enveloping everything to the north and east.

Red, Orange, Green Roosevelt stops are a block away. #12, #24, #29, #62 busses all close by. I could see a public/private partnership as part of the stalled 78 redevelopment. JR’s saber rattling about Nashville or moving elsewhere were the first indicators that something was in the works.

Mostly empty since the late 70s.

Sordid tale after sordid tale.

Still on the Southside, but basically downtown. Best of both worlds IMO. The location alone would make the stadium a draw for tourists and casual fans even.

I’ve been saying the same thing, but let’s hope by the time a new park opens the old man won’t still be pulling the strings.
