That may be very true.

Actually I think he is 88.

Fedde/Pham/$ to STL, Kopech to LAD, Miguel Vargas + prospects to Sox
https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/mlb-trade-grades-why-dodgers-cardinals-both-get-an-a-for-three-team-deadline-deal-with-white-sox/ White Sox get a D grade. For whatever it's worth, three evaluators with rival teams we spoke to agreed that this package felt light. Maybe the White Sox see something -- in Vargas, but also Albertus and Perez -- that will allow them to get the last laugh.

The streak has reached 21. Raise a glass.
The Sox haven't lost 17 games in a row (yet.....) A pair of 14 game ones heading into tonight.

This is completely true and his "rules" have shown especially since 2007 they do not work. As far as watching this team, he's at all the home games, the mainstream media have shown photos of his in his box.

Would dumping Benintendi's $50 million remaining on LAD
And keep in mind one of those two seasons was only 60 games long playing nothing but bad Central Division clubs, saw the Sox choke and collapse the last 10 days to throw away a #1 seed and have to open the playoffs on the road.

They may not have to pay a dime if certain conditions are met. MLB will not pass up the chance for a huge payday with expansion fees: https://www.nbcbayarea.com/news/sports/mlb/oakland-athletics/athletics-las-vegas-relocation-fee-stadium/3244260/#:~:text=Jeremy Aguero%2C an A's consultant, place (h%2Ft The Nevada

There is a difference between a relocation fee and an expansion fee. Estimates are the Nashville group headed up by Dave Stewart and TLR may have to pay TWO BILLION dollars to join MLB.

How the F are we ever going to build an offense?
They have averaged more than that at various times. But it all comes down to winning.
-

Exactly correct. MLB wants the enormous sums an expansion team would have to pay to join the league.

JR would have to pay around 200 million in capital gains tax then add on Illinois sales tax which is why he isn't selling as long as he is alive.

Until they allow an independent accountant to examine their books I'll take any talk of losing money with a large grain of salt. When the commissioner says the sports is now a 10 billion dollar a year business, with more international and domestic revenue streams than ever before and with the built in advantages of being the biggest market in said division to say nothing of things like every club getting a 50 million dollar check a few years ago when MLB sold BamTech, and factoring in sales from merchandise, concessions, parking (JR owns the lots) and TV/radio money, plus a sweetheart stadium deal, you have to be a complete idiot to lose money.

They were doing it very well between 1981-2006. Something happened starting in 2007 and the results speak for themselves.

7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)
In 123 previous seasons the Sox never lost 14 straight games. They have now done it twice in just a few months. Words fail me.

Fire Chris Getz
He has occasionally met with the media this year during the season but I don't think it has been on a regular basis.

7-28 Gamethread: Mariners at Sox (1:10pm)
Going to attempt to tie the franchise record for most consecutive losses (which they first set only a few months ago. That's staggering when you think about it...)

AJ could be a candidate to manage Sox
He has some qualities going for him and I wouldn't be against this move if it were to happen.

7-27 game thread Sox Vs Ms, looking for lucky #13
It's around 200 million for the capital gains tax then you add on the Illinois state tax rate. Yes, he is not selling the team and has made that clear on the rare times he has spoken about it.

Moncada and Clevinger "returned from rehab assignments"
Moncada update to the Sun-Times tonight Third baseman Yoan Moncada has been out since April 9 after straining his left adductor on a ground ball. His recovery has been slowed after he dealt with some soreness. “He’s going to see the doctor in Arizona just to make sure everything’s clear and then ramp it back up again,” Grifol said. “But he’s feeling pretty good.”

PC thread title: Clevinger will not pitch anymore in '24 for WS
Exactly. They lost 100 games with him last year and they are going to lose 100+ games this year. JR seems to have no problem throwing money down the toilet on guys who clearly are done but it seems to personally offend him to hand out a mega-contract to a potential franchise changing talent. It literally makes no sense at all.

That's not the point. It's the basic philosophy that he has had for decades. So insurance covers it in this particular case. You want me to list all the stiffs, has-been's, never-was's and rehabbing clowns they have had to actually pay for the last decade? I'd be happy to do so, the list is quite lllooonnnggg.

You know they very well may lose 20 in a row!

Not until new ownership arrives.

Crochet wants an extension to pitch in the playoffs
Saw an interesting take today speculating that if he would be traded to the Dodgers he wouldn't dare go into a locker room with guys like Otani, Betts, Freeman et al and say "I'm not pitching in October." If he's traded to a real contender I'm thinking he'll pitch contract extension or not.

PC thread title: Clevinger will not pitch anymore in '24 for WS
More wasted JR money but he's OK with handing that out to stiffs, has-been's and injury prone guys. But give 25 million to a franchise changing player like Bryce Harper? Oh no, can't do that...it offends his sense of fiscal responsibility! ?
