Anything is possible but it is hard to imagine Ishbia making more serious ownership mistakes than JR has done.

Caray was never a serious threat to get the club.

This Day In Sox History 3/21...
March 21, 1900 - After a meeting with the Chicago Cubs, the way was cleared for Charles Comiskey to bring his team from St. Paul, Minnesota to Chicago. They would set up shop on the South Side of the city. In fact, though, Comiskey was bringing the team to town regardless of whether the Cubs approved it or not. The meeting was set up though to try to avoid any conflicts. They would have immediate success winning the 1900 pennant going 82-53 and beating Milwaukee by four and a half games. March 21, 1931 – The White Sox defeated the New York Giants, 11-6, in the first night game ever played between American or National League teams. The contest took place in front of 2,500 fans at Buff Stadium in Houston, under 235-kilowatt bulbs held aloft by six steel towers, each 120 feet high. The game was arranged only 11 days before it was played. There were 23 total hits in the game, but the score was deadlocked 6-6 after nine innings. In the top of the 10th, Bill Cissell scored Willie Kamm with a single for the game-winning RBI. Luke Appling also clubbed a two-run double in the rally. March 21, 1997 - The Sox suffered a major blow to their hopes for a championship when star third baseman Robin Ventura destroyed his ankle and lower leg on a slide at home plate in a spring game against the Red Sox. The injury was so horrific that a woman sitting in the stands passed out when she saw the result. It was caused because his spikes caught in the wet, muddy, ground. The result was that Ventura’s foot was pointed 180 degrees opposite of the way a foot is supposed to be. The injury took place only 10 days before the season opener and the Sox were left in a state of shock. G. M. Ron Schueler announced to the media the team would be looking for a replacement, and then did nothing to fill the void staying in-house with Greg Norton and Chris Snopek. They combined for five home runs and 36 RBI’s in 105 games. Thankfully after a rigorous rehabilitation process, Robin would be back to play in 54 games that season and continue to have an outstanding Major League career after he left the Sox as a free agent. March 21, 2017 - Coming off of a terrific half-season in the majors the White Sox signed ascendant star Tim Anderson to a six-year, 25-million-dollar extension that could have extended to eight years and 51.5 million with club options. At the time, it was the biggest contract extension ever given a player with less than one year of MLB service. Despite that, most observers immediately regarded this extension as a steal for the White Sox, and it certainly turned out to be so at first, as he’d go on to win a batting championship, make a pair of All-Star games and hit a dramatic game-winning home run in the “Field of Dreams” game against the Yankees in Iowa in his White Sox tenure. The Sox even made him the centerpiece of the rebuild using him in an advertising campaign called “Change the Game!” But off the field issues and controversies on it, as well as seemingly always being injured turned a lot of the fan base against Anderson and his performance on the field slipped drastically. In 2023, Anderson had a horrific season, both in the batter’s box and in the field and because of that the White Sox did not pick up his option for 2024, and he signed with Miami. After he was released there, he signed a minor league deal with the Angels for 2025 but was again released after only playing in 31 games.

I wouldn't bet on this especially regarding certain posters who every week that goes by where they don't read or hear anything about the stadiums future immediately begin to post that they are hearing from "friends" the Sox are moving. 😆

This Day In Sox History 3/19...
March 19, 1979 - Sox shortstop prospect Harry Chappas appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated with the caption, “The Littlest Rookie. Shortstop Harry Chappas.” Chappas was all of 5-3. His career was as brief as his height. In three years, he appeared in 72 games with 184 at bats, one home run, two stolen bases and 15 walks. Part of the reason for his struggles, from those who knew him, was because of his reluctance to take advice from coaches and teammates. His only career home run came off the Brewers Bill Travers. March 19, 1981 – Former White Sox G.M. Frank “Trader” Lane died in Dallas, at the age of 86. Lane, who took over the White Sox in 1948 at a time when the franchise was threadbare in both coffers and talent, built the “Go-Go” White Sox of the 1950’s. It was under his oversight the South Siders started a record streak of winning seasons (1951-67). The G.M. brought in such talent as Nellie Fox, “Minnie” Minoso, “Chico” Carrasquel, Billy Pierce, Dick Donovan, “Jungle” Jim Rivera and Sherm Lollar, more often than not in transactions that were utter steals for the White Sox. Lane was also a metrics innovator. His G.M. career extended beyond the White Sox, to more than 400 trades in his career. But he is best known for his White Sox tenure, during which he forged 241 total deals.

The key to the season...
"But there are more questions than answers in the rotation. How will Smith perform this year after an All-Star rookie season? How will Kay adjust back to the majors after two years away? Can Burke cut down on the mechanical issues that led to his ineffective outings? Can Fedde rediscover his 2024 form?" Also talks about how poor the defense specifically the outfield is. This Day In Sox History 3/18...
March 18, 1964 - The Sox purchased the contract of veteran pitcher Don Mossi from the Tigers for 20,000 thousand dollars. Mossi would have a spectacular season for the club that lost the pennant by one game, going 3-1 with seven saves. He had an ERA of 2.92. In 40 innings he struck out 36 and only allowed seven walks. He’d team up with Hoyt Wilhelm and Eddie Fisher to give the club the best bullpen in the league. At the end of the year though he was released. March 18, 1981 - Carlton Fisk signed a free agent deal with the White Sox beginning the process of turning a laughable organization into a real, legitimate Major League franchise. The All-Star catcher and future Hall-of-Famer got his free agency after the Red Sox did not tender him a contract by the required date. Immediately Sox co-owner Eddie Einhorn and G.M. Roland Hemond jumped at the chance to get a player of Fisk’s caliber on to the team. Fisk would play 13 years on the South Side, make four All-Star teams as a member of the White Sox, and have his number #72 retired in 1997. When he retired, he also held the team record for most home runs in a White Sox uniform as well as most home runs in MLB history hit by a catcher. His two best seasons were in 1983 when he rebounded from a very slow start to hit .289 with 26 home runs and 89 RBI’s for the Western Division champions, finishing third in the M.V.P. voting and 1985, his career season. That year Fisk hit only .238 but blasted 37 home runs with 107 RBI’s. March 18, 2016 - The ongoing embarrassment that surrounded the retirement of Adam LaRoche ended, at least officially, with the player explaining his side of the story. Just hours earlier, Chris Sale had kicked off what would be an utterly bizarre year for him by speaking out in support of LaRoche and against his own G.M., Ken Williams. Outfielder Adam Eaton would do the same. The crux of the story came down to LaRoche claiming that, contrary to what was promised when he signed with the White Sox, his son Drake recently had been completely banned from spring training. Williams proffered that he’d spoken to Adam about lessening Drake’s constant presence with the team (as prompted by players like Jimmy Rollins, who talked to the G.M. about this strange, unprofessional and intrusive arrangement), and then lost his cool, when after that, he saw Drake on the pitcher’s mound during infield practice and issued a complete ban. The entire situation made the organization look inept and dysfunctional.
