I think that's significant but a lot can change between now and the winter especially when you are dealing with JR.

Sox trade Andrew Vaughn to acquire Aaron Civale
Lip Man 1 replied to WestEddy's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well they are getting more out of Vaughn than the Sox did with Civale. He helped spur that long win streak when a bunch of their guys were on the IL so yes I agree you AND the Brewers are going to make the playoffs. No question as it turned out they got the best end of the trade. All the Sox got was another stiff who ate some innings. And I'm not saying they should have kept Vaughn, he needed to get out of this insane asylum as soon as possible to try to get his career going again. -
There's no "may" about it.

My God...a win.

That's JR's way. Cubs also claimed Santana from the Guardians if I heard right. -
All of them have gone through "rebuilding," in some cases multiple times. The successes they have had in large part have been based on a competent front office. When was the last time the Sox could say they had a competent front office/organization?
-
He is on defense, then again he fits right in with the rest of this bunch as far as fielding is concerned.
-
Once again this false narrative comes to the forefront. I don't know of ANY Sox fan...NONE who "don't mind" losing, tanking, rebuilding. But when you have an owner who refuses to compete, who refuses to spend money, who refuses to take any risks, who thinks players are overpaid and still yearns for a salary cap...rebuilding, tanking is basically the ONLY WAY to maybe get out of the cesspool he created. Will it work? It hasn't so far that's for damn sure but odds of a 1,000-1 are still better than zero because JR is simply not trying to win anymore. Period...full stop...end of story.

Look at the good side, these buffoons didn't allow the Yankees to score in double figures tonight! WOO HOO! They'll make it a four game sweep Sunday.
-
Fair point although Schultz had a knee issue and Smith had some arm issues.
-
Yankees may score in double figures in every game this series. Taylor is not a relief pitcher, let the kid start. The pitching staff is ma disaster, almost as bad as last year. Total embarrassment.
-
Absolutely.

Sox, Cubs, Brewers, Twins paired together in future?
Lip Man 1 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
if you are talking about his latest podcast appearance I think he said he is not saying the Rays would move to Orlando but that at some point in some way he thinks they will get a team. -
When you think about it that is so White Sox isn't it? Shoot for the moon...miss and the only thing that is left is scarp heap players. There doesn't seem to be a middle ground.

White Sox vs Yankees 6:40pm CST; Martin vs Warren
Lip Man 1 replied to Kyyle23's topic in 2025 Season in Review
Outside of the personal impact, who really cares? Him playing won't prevent this team from losing 100 games again. Since 2018 this organization can't seem to go a week without someone getting hurt, it is what it is. Three errors tonight, Sosa with another one and they still had a chance until this wretched bullpen came into play in the last two innings. Only a month to go before this abomination ends. -

Rothenthal on Foul Territory also endorsed his plan. -
The Future of the White Sox TV Broadcast Team

Wouldn't put it past him to not know who the Barons are. 😉 -
And with him being injured Getz now has a logical reason to let him go and not necessarily have egg on his face again.
-
Not really, results equal success equal excellence.
-
Absolutely agree with you. Of course by the time the team is good again some of us may no longer be above ground. 😆
-
It's called losing, incompetence, dysfunction and ineptness for a sustained period of time.
-
This is all you need to know about the state of this franchise. The optimists are celebrating things that good franchises wouldn't even take a second look at because they expect excellence. The pessimists are (and I'm one of them) are so far down having seen basically nothing but incompetence, dysfunction and ineptness since the start of the 2007 season that they have little to no hope until the stench of JR has been removed. That's some situation isn't it?
-
And with his lack of defense keeping him away from second base is also crucial.
-
Payroll won't be quite that low, but it will be low, just the way JR likes it.
