  1. Yeah, I don't get why the Robertson contract gets lumped in with LaRoche, Samardzija type acquisitions. Sure, we ended up trading him, but over the course of the contract, he pitched exactly as expected, if not better. Did the one game against the Royals just absolutely destroy fan perception?
  2. Have been advocating for Yates or Trevor Rosenthal. Problem is, given how (relatively) cheap those guys are compared to Hendriks, I'm not sure what else the team is gonna be spending on. Wondering if Hahn is regretting his "stay tuned" comment
  3. Good for him. He's a great fit for that roster
  4. And thankfully, Moncada is still #10. I was worried TLR would take it (he still doesn't have a number)
  5. Elected officials are actively trying to overturn the results of a certified election, and that's somehow the same thing as progressives saying we should rethink the electoral college? I hope that's not your point and I'm just misinterpreting, because I know you know better than to argue that
  6. I believe he has been told that some pitchers prefer throwing to McCann, but this assertion that the entire pitching staff is having all-out brawls in the clubhouse over not having to throw to Grandal just reads as some weird McCann fan-fiction
  7. I know it and I'm in my early 20s, so you should be alright Got it. It seemed to me like you were coming at it from a perspective of believing the owners much more than this post implies, but this is a fair take IMO. Thanks for reading it
  8. Huge news dump of upcoming Disney+ releases, but most notably (IMO), Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor are officially returning for an Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Very excited about that one
  9. Would be curious to know what you think about this article https://blogs.fangraphs.com/what-the-braves-can-tell-us-about-mlb-financial-losses-in-2020/
  10. No worries. Just not really sure where that leaves you, if you'd agree that Grandal is better offensively and McCann is the one who commits the interference errors. My opinion is that McCann calls better games, and is slightly better when it comes to avoiding bonehead errors like dropping pop-ups and whatnot (I say slightly because of the catcher's interferences and because he'll drop one every now and then himself, just not as frequently as Grandal). But I think Grandal is better offensively and is a better framer, which is why I think he's superior overall
  11. It's really bizarre. McCann certainly does some things better than Grandal, I don't think anyone would deny that. But claiming that "the data" shows he's better offensively, or that he doesn't register any catchers interference errors, is either just straight up lying for no reason or a complete inability to look at even the most basic of numbers
  12. A quick look at Baseball-Reference shows that McCann had 3 catchers interferences during the regular season and Grandal had 0. Every single argument you're making is either completely backwards or just your own opinion
  13. All the "facts" and "data points" you keep suggesting are literally just your opinions. Since 2019, McCann has slashed .276/.334/.474 (.808 OPS) and Grandal has been at .242/.373/.457 (.830 OPS). I don't care if you think McCann is better, but at least admit that it's all based on your own opinions and the eye test rather than some objective data set
  14. I actually have looked into this: when Tim Anderson is catching, Giolito has a 0.00 ERA. I think we’ve found our solution.
  15. Opening day and that start against the Cardinals where he couldn’t throw a strike in the first inning to save his life. I’m still really mad at Grandal for telling Giolito that he wasn’t allowed to throw strikes that inning.
  16. Sarris isn't a big Vaughn fan, and he cited his draft year minor league stats as the reason. I know he's connected, but obviously a 4 year deal for a DH locks Vaughn out of the long-term plans, and I feel like he's more willing than any writer to do that since he doesn't like Vaughn
  17. So Nightengale says the Sox preferred Brantley but couldn't afford him, and Stark is saying we're still in on Brantley. As weird as this sounds, I think I trust Nightengale here
  18. This is my biggest issue. You're basically guaranteeing large stretches of Engel/Garcia as your starting RF
  19. Nah, I would be pissed if they let a 60 game season cloud their judgment over 5 consecutive prior seasons of a wRC+ above 100 with solid defense
  20. I'm pretty much down the middle on this move. I really liked Dunning but Lynn is awesome and it feels good to be on this side of trades again. Hoping we can extend him for another year or two though. Lynn, Joc, and Q would be a good offseason. All three are very underrated on this board IMO
  21. I thought this was possible too but someone asked Passan and it's real
  22. Damn. I've always really liked McClure. Wouldn't be surprised if he turns into a competent #4/5.
  23. I've been increasingly skeptical of these accounts, but all 3 of the main ones seemed to be on point today. I'm still not convinced that they're all different people, but maybe they're all legit
  24. When Joc signs with the Cardinals tomorrow, we can blame this guy for old time's sake
