It just seems like an impossible ask. Corporate interests and capitalist media are just too massive to effectively counter in the short-term. I mean, Sanders was leading the primaries after Nevada, and MSNBC of all organizations was literally comparing him and his supporters to Hitler. By the time we reach the point you're referring to, I'm not sure the planet will even be largely inhabitable. Genuine question for you, and/or @Soxbadger, and correct me if my assumption is wrong: Why do you look at these election results and think "good, the Democrats made the right call, no other candidate could have done this"? Yes, Biden is going to win, but he's eking out a victory against a consensus bottom-five president in U.S. history. Yes, much of that is due to the outdated electoral college, but nevertheless, the relatively narrow margin of victory is one that I would be embarrassed or at least uneasy about if I were a Democrat, not one that I would be proud of.

But remember, we were crazy and overreacting when La Russa couldn't name anybody on the roster and Steve Stone was tweeting that if he were manager, he would be getting to know his players

Yup. Liberals hate us (and vice versa, in a lot of cases) which is why I find it funny when everyone tries to lump us together as equals
-
Right, so not Democrats, and not the people who led the Russia allegations
-
What do you think a leftist is? You keep using that word to describe Democrats
-
But haven't you heard, he dropped a few baseballs and therefore is the worst player in MLB history
-
I personally don't trust him. I also think it would be a terrible trade haha
-
Yup, Manfred and the owners have already been hinting at this

I remember asking my 6th grade teacher why this was the case and how it hasn't ever caused any issues. Don't think I got a good answer haha

Trump is claiming he won Michigan, even though everyone has it called for Biden, so I don't think this is going to go smoothly. I think Biden has it in the bag, but it will take weeks for that to be officially recognized
-
My guess is either Tucker Carlson or Trump (pulling a Grover Cleveland), but I could definitely see that too
-
I can't believe it was ever so reversed last night, just because of Florida and small samples of midwestern votes. I've never made a bet in my life but I'm regretting not jumping on Biden +550 (or whatever it was)

Here's a link to Biden's speech for anyone interested https://www.pscp.tv/w/1OyKAgjReAeJb

Seems extreme to me but ok, I guess they should continue running out old white centrists and hope for the best

I think it's the best way, but not necessarily the only way. Nevertheless, I think doing more of the same is an impossibility if the party wants to hold on to its progressive side. On this current long-term path, the Republicans will stay at their lunatic fascist state, the Democrats will become the center-right party (which they basically are right now), and a third party will inevitably have to emerge
-
Do you really believe that the turnout record this year was because people were passionate about Joe Biden, and not because people were either strongly for or against Trump?
-
To be honest, the biggest difficulty I've had in answering your question is that the vast majority of candidates who support M4A were in districts they were expected to win (maybe that means something?). With respect to contested races or ones slightly favoring Republicans, I could only find a handful of candidates who support it.
-
Not saying that Trump supports any of them more than Biden. Biden obviously isn't looking to overturn Roe or anything like that, but his health care plan and track record with immigration, for instance, are certainly far from what I believe "progressive" policies represent. My personal opinion is that a candidate running on M4A, GND, and a more progressive immigration policy would have done better in this election than Biden. I fundamentally disagree with the idea that Democrats need to move right to capture Republicans/centrists frustrated with Trump at the expense of strong liberals and leftists. I get that this is an unpopular opinion and I don't expect to convince you of it. My overall point, however, is that the people have not been given a chance to vote for a progressive agenda on this scale because Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, etc. are not progressive candidates. To use their results as proof that Americans do not support progressive policies is backwards thinking, to me.
-
This is my exact point. Biden doesn't represent those polls, so the people didn't even have a chance to vote for that agenda.
-
Maybe some didn't come out for Biden because he doesn't represent what they want? Being "not Trump" isn't enough for all voters. You can't use the Biden/Trump results to argue against progressivism. The idea that progressives will go out in droves to vote for corporate Democrats has never made sense to me
-
It's almost like constantly trying to cater to the 3% of Republicans who denounce Trump is worse than attempting to reach out to young and/or minority voters
-
For now, yeah. I'm just anxious about accusations of foul play as Pennsylvania and perhaps Georgia get their votes counted
