  1. With all the projections now predicting a western shift, is it possible Louisiana/New Orleans gets hit?
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 01:20 PM) I had a feeling that was going to happen with Holland, Petricka, and Rodon gone. Really wanted to see Machi in a Sox uniform. Why?
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 12:59 PM) Ryan Cordell. He has all winter to get healthy and prepare for ST. Based on how there's usually a surprise or two, I'm thinking a healthy Ryan Cordell comes out and takes the LF spot and forces Leury to compete with Engel for CF. Not that Cordell is expected to become anything special, it's just that I don't see any of these guys, Liriano/Tilson/May/Willy G/etc, being anythng special either. Before his injury, Cordell had some nice power numbers at AAA. I think that for now, Engel is safe. ST wil be fun next year and especially if the Sox trade Avi. The outfield is going to be a battle royale. What if I told you that Willy's OPS is 19 points better than Leury's? SSS, sure, but he has promise and seems to be able to handle MLB pitching.
  4. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 09:59 AM) To the right of the big lettering "Standard Batting" there's a button that says "Show Minors". There's also a tab to the right of the "[Name of Player] Overview" tab that says "Minor Lg Stats". Yikes, I apologize. I must've misspelled "playoff" and had it autocorrect to "player" in the top line of my original post. While I can see the minor league stats you're referencing, I still can't find the minor league playoff stats. Sorry for the confusion.
  5. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) You can find them on both baseball reference and fangraphs, they're on separate tabs. Where is the tab, exactly? I can't seem to find it on bb ref. Thanks
  6. 4-0 win
  7. Rodon was scratched from tonight's start with left shoulder stiffness
  8. Left shoulder stiffness
  9. I know minor league playoff stats don't "count", just like in the majors, but what happens to the numbers? For example, if you go to a player's baseball-reference page who played in the 2016 minor league playoffs, those stats are nowhere to be found. For the majors, there's at least the "postseason hitting" category.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) I hope Willy hits 4 HRs for Kanny. I hope he hits 5.
  11. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) Is Saladino still a guy who is in contention for a major league spot after this season? Offensively he's been utterly atrocious since April. Something tells me this is his last month in a White Sox uniform
  12. I really think we're gonna struggle to find playing time for the borderline guys next year, especially in the OF. Right now, you have Delmonico, Garcia, Garcia, Garcia, Engel, Cordell, and Liriano playing for 3 spots and a DH. There are also guys like Jimenez and Polo who may very well be here by the end of 2018. Even after an Avi trade, I don't see how the Lirianos and Willy Garcias of the world get a fair look- especially if the organization is still so in love with Engel in center.
  13. Surprised to see him back so soon.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 01:05 PM) They need to name the DL after him. But he probably should be shut down. He isn't going to accomplish anything the next few weeks.. They need to let the Becks and Coveys , Frys and Bummers cover the bullpen innings vs. SF. SF and Detroit are huge series. More than a couple of wins is going to kill them for the top pick. I'm afraid we're gonna win the majority of those games with Rodon/Lopez/Giolito facing those offenses
  15. Yeah... that was rough. Lopez was nails though
  16. Anderson scratched ("under the weather") Hanson Sanchez Abreu Garcia Delmonico Davidson Smith Saladino Engel
  17. Hamilton and Buxton are probably the only true 80s out there. Moncada may be a 75/80
  18. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) I don't have an opinion on the matter, but I'll just say it's really hard to get a good bearing on a CF unless you see them get a ton of reps in person, not on TV. You can't see their jumps, reads and instincts on TV. To that point, I remember being very discouraged with Engel's jumps and reads (both on TV and in person) during his first few weeks here, but he has improved greatly in that department since.
  19. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 01:13 PM) I thought I had read that they mishandled signing him on as an ambassador. That's correct- despite the reports of us having signed him, we screwed it up and he never actually ended up signing
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) Still no idea why this was ever in Soxtalk. Was it supposed to be at GRF ? Chance the Rapper ties ? Still oddly out of place. It was supposed to be at GRF, so I guess that's why
  21. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 10:44 AM) I think he was trying to make a point that saying "If Adam Engel could only hit XYZ, he would be a really good player" is the same as saying if Saladino, Sanchez and Alvarez could just hit XYZ, they would be really good players." I also see his point. I like what Engel has brought to the table for a very bad team in 2017, but he hasn't shown me much in terms of being any sort of impact player for when this team hopefully is ready to compete. He falls into the same group as Saladino, Sanchez, ect. of those role player guys that are really the 24th and 25th men on a good baseball team. I see- couldn't tell if that's what he meant from the original post but it makes sense. I agree there, he's nothing more than a late inning pinch runner/defensive sub, although I doubt we'd be able to utilize his speed on the basepaths.
  22. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 09:39 AM) I just think if Tyler Saladino could hit .270 with 25HR he would be a good fit. Same with Yolmer. You know who else impresses me in the minors? Eddy Alvarez.. if he could hit .250 with 25hrs he could be our next SS for 5-7 years. I can't stand this board sometimes. He's never hit more than 7 hr's in a season. He's not figuring it out now at 25 years old. This is the biggest contradiction ever. Saladino, Sanchez, and Alvarez have never hit more than 9 home runs in a season, yet they apparently have the potential to hit 25. Engel has never hit more than 7 home runs in a season, yet he's the one out of the four that's apparently not going to figure it out and become a sudden home run hitter, despite being the youngest. This was either a remarkably poorly informed post or a troll attempt.
