  1. The bad thing about trading just one of our aces for MLB ready bats is that, great, offense should be better, but now you have a horrible rotation
  2. I honestly am more familiar with the Boston farm system at this point than I am with our own, given that Fulmer/Anderson aren't a part of it anymore
  3. Got a used PS2 and have been playing some old games this week. very nostalgic haha
  4. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) That's a narrative man, if Hahn let KW dictate his moves as a GM he's an even worse GM than I thought. I don't think it was Hahn's choice
  5. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 11:13 AM) This is spot on, sell the whole team but what does it matter when it's the same guy doing the selling who did the buying? Get a new FO completely or retool. To be fair, some of the buying moves had KW written all over them
  6. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:58 AM) And trade the prospects you got for Sale for an ace that makes double his salary? Prospects bust. You can't give all your talent away or you wind up really sorry. I hate to use them as an example, but look at the Cubs. Once they became ready, they signed Jon Lester. This is all assuming that Rodon, Fulmer, Urias, De Leon, 2017 1st round pick, etc. all bust, and that's pretty unlikely
  7. People who speak of our core and how close we are to competing... sure, our core is great. But you need a supporting cast to win. Our regime has proven time and time again that they are incapable of gathering an adequate supporting cast to complement our core.
  8. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:54 AM) Anybody expecting the Sox to do a full 3-5 year rebuild is just kidding themselves. It will never happen nor should it. The team has a very, very solid core in Sale, Quintana, Rodon, Fulmer, Eaton and Abreu. Plus they have Collins and Burdi waiting in the wings. The team is so close to competing that it would be a shame to start over. I could see them moving some of the group of Q, Frazier, Robertson and Duke but I think they will still go for it in 2017. Honestly who was the last team to do a full tear down and end up winning a World Series out of the rebuild? Royals
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) Even if rodon does become 1 or 2, there is a great deal of "hope" there. Anyone they draft will take at least 4 years to become a 1 or 2 in the MLB, unless you count on drafting HOF players every year like Sale. If they don't keep one top of the rotation starters, I don't think they will not be a realistic World Series contender for at least 5 years. Then we can always head to the FA market or the trade market to find our ace, if we do get to this "worst case scenario" point
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) People aren't going to be able to deal with a full rebuild. Just look at the facts. 2014 was a rebuilding season, how many people complained about Konerko taking the 25th spot and ruining "roster construction"? They weren't going to win, I thought people didn't care. And many who have said this season is over are complaining Jacob Turner is starting tonight. That's what you get in a rebuild. Guys like Jacob Turner starting, for years. But I'd hope more are willing to put up with an elongated losing period if they can realize how good the farm would be and how good the team could be in the near future
  11. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:38 AM) That's only 3 years away. The sox will be looking at far longer than that with no top of the rotation starters. Unless you think rodon and Fulmer are 1 and 2 starters. I'm not convinced of that. I'm still confident in Rodon to become a dominant pitcher in time. Fulmer, I haven't seen enough of, but you never know. If you couple in the prospects we'd get from these trades (maybe Urias, De Leon, etc.) and the one we draft and likely fast track, 3-4 years isn't that crazy.
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:30 AM) In this scenario the Sox have no number 1 or number 2 starter. This team will have no realistic shot for years. They are going to be really, really bad. Good. I don't want a realistic shot for years. Stock up on first round picks for a few years, draft a good starter, develop Rodon/Fulmer and the starting prospects we get in all these trades, and we'll be fine. I'm more than fine to wait until 2019 or 2020 to be legitimate contenders. I can endure a few seasons of losing and development for the potential reward. It's a hell of a lot better than constant "going for it" seasons that end up with a team that can't even reach .500.
  13. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 22, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) If you read Hahn's comments it sounds like he's realizing that the current makeup isn't working & we're mired in mediocrity. I'm not so sure that trading 2-3 guys solves this. That's more rebuilding on the fly. It's not that I think this would be a good/bad idea, but not sure it dramatically changes the approach enough. I agree. Trading from strengths partially to fill a couple holes only weakens your strengths, thus keeping you in mediocrity. And who knows if filling the holes at various positions with the players we get in these potential trades will even work? I'm down for rebuilding, but let's do it the right way. Keep Anderson, Rodon, Fulmer, and maybe Eaton, but everyone else should be up for grabs if the right package comes along. It's a ridiculously good year to be a seller, market-wise, and we'd be foolish to not take advantage.
  14. I think Dave meant that he'll be able to release more information by mid-afternoon, not that a trade will go down. But we'll see
  15. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jul 21, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) Don't have the link. I'll look it up. Phil Rogers now came out with a rebuild article. Some of his deals were horrendous for Quintana. Looking it up now. Edit: http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/190...quintana-trade/ Really seems like big moves are ahead. Everyone's talking and writing about the rebuild. I think we're finally gona see one. Patience will be key. Can't f***ing rush the process like in 2015. Stay the course, take your lumps and try to build a perennial contender. KW needs to sit back and let Hahn do this rebuild if he's going to keep him. I feel like Hahn has been hamstrung at times. Some of those were absolutely laughable
  16. Hard pass on Gallo. The dude tries to homer on every swing and those kind of guys haven't panned out with us as of late
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 04:52 PM) Albers with the bases loaded vs. Cano isn't exactly a compelling match up from a White Sox point of view. Give me Jones, Fulmer, or Jennings then
  18. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 03:10 PM) Might want to look at the box score before you post mate. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Considering we are winning 4-0 already and Gonzalez has 3 straight QS with a 2.25 ERA during that span, it should be interesting. Don't bother with him. His anti-Saladino, negative agenda knows no bounds
  19. My god, how many troll threads are gonna gain this much steam
  20. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 20, 2016 -> 12:28 AM) Lawrie and Frazier go deep Bullpen pitched well. The rock theme song is by the Seattle band the Foo Fighters called "The Pretender " . Interpret that any way you please. That's Jake Petricka's reliever entry music!
  21. QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 19, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) Addison reed 81% career save David Robertson 81 % career save. That's before his blow last night... so Reed might be higher now. I don't think you get why Reed was traded.
