QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 01:52 PM) He has a career .300 OBP in the majors. Why would that suddenly increase by 50 points at age 34? When he played 93 games in a season at age 29, it was .323. With ample playing time in the minors, the guy is hitting over .350 with an OBP over .400. Sure, he's 34, but he's at least played well enough to earn a chance at the majors this year.

It's still weird to me that he goes by Melvin now big change from B.J.

Fulmer up, Coats down, Morneau activated
Jose Abreu replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) I wonder if Morneau will be in the line up vs. the lefty. Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 28m28 minutes ago Justin Morneau is 3-for-11 w/ BB & RBI vs. Hector Santiago, tonight's #Angels starter. Don't be surprised if he's in #WhiteSox lineup. -
QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 11:29 PM) So can someone explain this to me... Beck down for Fulmer, Coats down for Morneau. That would leave the roster at 25, right? Then if that is right, what about Turner supposedly starting Sunday? My guess is Fulmer starts Sunday and Dave was wrong on Turner

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 08:18 PM) Wasn't it Dave that said 5/130M is what the Sox were going to sign Cespedes for? Pretty sure that Dave had reported that on twitter. Yeah that's what I remember. He was wrong about this too, now that Fulmer is on the way

Yup, solid source. Wonder if he'll start for Rodon and then move to the bullpen, or just be a reliever.
-
Is Blackmon's defense even that good? I could be looking at the wrong metrics, but he looks pretty average

Everyone points to Garcia, but it's Abreu's slide that's k

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 06:50 PM) Realistically he got off to a horrible start, and has trended back to his usual self over the last couple of months. Historically his worst two months with the White Sox are April and May. The last thing we need is another irrational panic about Abreu thread. Here is his OPS by month this year: April .657 May .711 June .885 July .807 OPS+ by month April 82 May 94 June 131 July 114 Batting average by month April .229 May .252 June .306 July .351 Thank you. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 02:43 PM) None of us have seen him play. If he's healthy, then no matter what 17 at bats say, he's better than anything we can throw out there. As long as he's better than Coats/Avi then I'll be happy. That isn't too hard to do

Blackmon's career OPS at Coors: .894 Away from Coors: .678

Shame if he's out for a while. Jackson was starting to hit quite well before the injury
-
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 14, 2016 -> 11:36 AM) The only thing I can think of that he's missed on what the Burdi plan, but I also am not 100% sure that was him anyway. He also reported that the Sox and Cespedes finalized a contract in December

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 09:11 PM) Rehab as in rehab assignment. Not a problem with addiction. You sure? Exact quote is "checking into rehab"
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 13, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) I forgot who mentioned it on twitter, but a major writer said that the Dodgers are interested in trading for Puig since Ethier is on his way back. Not a LH bat, but I think he still can make an impact defensively and in the lineup. Only question now is, are you interested in him, and what would you give up to acquire him? Really next to nothing. He isn't good.

Who do the Sox theoretically lose after 17 aside from Lawrie, Frazier, and Cabrera? I am sure we'll exercise all the team options on Sale/Q/Eaton/Jones etc.
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 12, 2016 -> 11:08 PM) If the Sox are going to utilize Saladino he needs to play some OF to go along with his infield skills. I know he hurt his arm ( elbow ?) making a throw from the OF in the minors but so what . If he wants to play more and get more AB's than Avi he should be all for it. He's fast enough and athletic enough to play OF decently and would be worth more. Or, we could 3B Saladino, 1B Frazier, DH Abreu vs LHP. Morneau as DH vs RHP with no Saladino. No Avi ever. Problem solved

"Rumored conjecture"? So basically it's a rumored opinion? lmao

All-star gamethread: American League vs. National League
Jose Abreu replied to brian310's topic in 2016 Season in Review
Man, the disrespect Quintana has gotten... I searched his name to Twittter only to find Red Sox fans complaining that he's pitching over Wright, or tweets like this: Sam Fick @FammySick Michael Fulmer: 9-2 with a 2.11ERA as a rookie. Jose Quintana: 7-8 with a 3.21ERA... -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 02:00 PM) Just think if we had Anderson, Semien and Trayce! Wow we'd be excited and praising our system. Instead, two horrific trades letting Trayce and Semien go. As much as we rail on our system, we had 3 studs right there home grown and let two go. Have you looked at Trayce's numbers lately? The dude has been horrific.
-
Sale starting and likely going one inning. Quintana likely to pitch the 5th.

QUOTE (gosoxgo2005 @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 06:38 AM) Serious question, what happened on his caught stealing yesterday? AJ has never one time thrown out a runner by 30 feet like he threw out Anderson yesterday. Did he slip? Horrific jump? I didn't see the replay, just saw that he was so far from second when the 2B/SS (I forget which one) caught the ball that he had the time to turn around and try and get back to first. I was at the game and was watching him/the pitcher the whole time. It was one of the worst jumps I've ever seen. That's all

If we improve at beating teams in our division, we will make the playoffs. If we continue to struggle beating teams in our division, we will not make the playoffs. It's as simple as that.

I think it's time to take Jose off the banner
Jose Abreu replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (harkness @ Jul 11, 2016 -> 11:12 AM) Abreu has appeared to be declining.. the basic numbers are straight forward. BUT its more than a little early to be making any conclusions on him. He still has a lot of career to go... after this season is over we can assess more reasonably. He is still driving in runs... which to me is the most important stat for him. Exactly, and his stats over the last month are fantastic- he's back. You have to be a troll when 100% of the threads you start are about Abreu being "figured out". -

Oh god, this guy again, the one who was rooting for Abreu's demise and is now starting ANOTHER anti-Abreu thread... dude, look at his stats for the past month and then tell me he's been "figured out". -
He replaced Salazar. Still no replacement for Wade Davis...
