Unfortunately he was struggling at Charlotte the last few weeks. He was hitting .200 in his last 10 games.

Yankees vs White Sox Father's Day Gamethread
SCCWS replied to Tnetennba's topic in 2019 Season in Review
Outstanding coaching staff................................. -
The final record may be meaningless. If the Sox are sellers at the deadline, their record at that point is a realistic number. If they trade bullpen arms or Abreu then they will probably promote AAA talent much earlier than normal.

White Sox ratings: up 40% on TV and streaming up over 100%

That is really minor league pricing for distant areas since they usually don't have nosebleed. I attended numerous Tampa Bay games and their 3rd deck used to be $10 behind home plate. But I think it is closer to $20 now. -
I look at it differently. Putting service time aside, I tend to think Sept call-ups give players a chance to see the majors but the level of play is often watered down with roster expansion and teams resting players for postseason However, if a team thinks a prospect is exceeding in AAA, then a post all-star call-up can give them experience in games that matter as well as working w the MLB coaching staff. But some organizations , like the White Sox, may be more concerned w service time.

Despaigne called up; Delmonico released; Fry to IL

Excellent points. I would only add that he also only had a cup of coffee in AA. So his upper-minor league experience is very limited. -

I agree but I assume you are not counting today's effort. -
Cease imploded in 1st inning today. Hopefully just a bad day and not a physical issue.

He needs to pitch more in AAA. He had limited time in AA.
-
I think he does at least another month in AAA.

Is Ricky Renteria once again simply a placeholder manager?
SCCWS replied to ron883's topic in Pale Hose Talk
RR certainly makes some questionable decisions. But we must also realize he was handed a lousy team with a few young players w a lot of potential. I think we will see a new manager in 2021 when we should be ready to take the next big step forward. -
Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves

I think you supported my thought. Chris Sale leaves Chicago, his only team, and goes to Boston. Boston makes that trade because they feel they will keep Sale when his contract runs out in a few years. Sale loves Boston and now they extend him. Hopefully we can gamble on some FA or trade for a player and make the White Sox a place where guys want to stay. -
Dallas Keuchel signs one year deal with Braves
SCCWS replied to SweatyFreddy's topic in The Diamond Club
Keuchel signing a 1 year deal would not help us at this stage. Better we didn't get involved. But the organization needs to start to change their mindset as well. When the Sox are ready to be a contender, they do need to take some chances on players w limited contracts w the goal to convince them to re-sign. I agree w those who said that Keuchel probably never considered the Sox. That t has to change in the next few years. This FO has to change the perception as the winning increses. It is how good teams keep rolling along year after year. -

Maybe Hahn should find the guy in the Twins org. who is finding this talent and hire him. -
Some Tiger fan is saying I don't know how McCann was awful last year and he is so good this year.
-
I think they will be sellers not buyers.
-
Ace does not mean your number 1 starter. Q was having a down year in 2017. He was 4-8 w a 4.50 era when we traded him.
-
Who was the ace the last 2 seasons?
-
If before the season, someone had told you that on June 2nd Gio would be leading the majors in wins and Chris Sale would be leading the majors in losses you would have thought they got in to the Kool-aid.
-
Your lost. The post said " Boston wasn't even using him anymore." They were using him almost every game in the playoffs. But he wasn't as dominant as he had been.
-
Do you think RR calls all the defensive shifting going on these days? It is a nerd w a computer before the game handing out assignments to the coaches.
-
HUH??? Kimbrel saved 2 of the 3 wins against Yamkees in ALDS. He closed 3 of their 4 wins in ALCS against Houston and pitched in 4 of 5 wins against Dodgers. Only gave in WS he didn't close was the one Chris Sale did. Kimbrel had a very mediocre late August and September last year. But he was heavily used in postseason and had 6 saves in the 3 series.
-
Lip: I am disappointed in you as i figured you were up on modern times. Is Terry Francona worth a damn??? Pick up his book and read it. While in Boston, where he won a WS, the FO would tell him how to use certain young players.
-
No. Maybe the FO has told RR that he should leave in Gio, Lopez and maybe even Covey as Taylor said. Then again, maybe the FO lets RR make his own decisions on a game to game basis and I agree he should have pulled him sooner. Everyone assume the managers makes these decisions but that is not the case in some organizations.
-
Taylor thinks it was a good move. You think it was a bad move. I wonder what Hahn thought or is RR doing what he is told.
