  1. I doubt this year. The penalty of a draft pick expires soon, at which point both will probably sign. Atlanta seems to be rumored w both but I can see the Yankees going after Keuchel. Twins are an interesting rumor for Kimbrel. I am amazed Boston has not changed their mind. Their bullpen is blah.
  2. AVI had a very solid 2017 but the was hurt again last year. Maybe the Tampa weather or the artificial turf have rejuvenated his career. I figured they would DH him especially w the carpet but he is playing mostly RF. He is only 28 so good for him.
  3. I think Hahn considers him as part of the rebuild General manager Rick Hahn may have had his strongest take on Abreu’s future as a Sox when he appeared on MLB Network Tuesday morning. Asked about the 32-year-old two-time All-Star first baseman’s future with the club after his six-year contract expires at the end of the season, Hahn talked up Abreu’s value on the field and in the clubhouse — as he always does. “He’s been here throughout the early stages of this rebuild and certainly very likely he’ll be here in the more enjoyable stages that lie ahead of us,” Hahn said. Hahn has been consistent saying talks of a new deal would likely occur after the season.

I think he was a major part. Once Sale and Q were traded, he was the premier LH rotation piece.

Hopefully the Sox get a discount on 3 surgeries.
  6. For those who watch college baseball, do teams ever bunt?
  7. I used ESPN stats which reflects successful SH and SF. Not sure it would be skewed too much since most AL teams should be pretty close. I don't know where you would find missed attempts since it would fall into another category. But some stat geek might have it. There is also the times where a batter hits to the right side to advance a runner from 2nd to 3rd. That also is pretty much the equivalent of a bunt.
  8. These are SF (sacrifice hits) and obviously not SF. So that would exclude bunting for a base hit. I used AL only since NL are skewed. Not sure where you got your info that "The rest of baseball is now aware of this and have stopped." Only Oakland and Detroit have no SF this season. Cleveland has 9 already.
  9. Maybe I am missing something . I agree with the premise on bunting but where did you get the info on bolded section. Looking at AL stats only, the White Sox are tied for 6th and finished 5th last year. Now maybe we try and fail more but I doubt it. I know Francona is a big believer in bunting and Cleveland usually leads the AL.
  10. We signed him 14 years ago. Maybe he wanted to retire as a White Sox.
  11. I think I think every situation is different. Living in New England , i saw the Red Sox promote Benintendi and Moncada at the same time from AA a few years ago. One flourished and the other sunk. Now 3 years later, hopefully Moncada has adjusted. Benintendi has been pretty solid since he arrived.
  12. How did you come to that conclusion. Avi has 13 RBI in 119 AB. Cordell alone in RF has 9 RBI in 60 ABS. Are you thinking AVI's defense would win at least 3 games.
  13. Lineup aside, we won 2 out of 3 against the Indians on the road. That is at least a positive.
  14. Why wait that long? Set the Top 5 and let Eloy hit 6th when he returns.
  15. Because there are 15 teams in the AL and only 5 have records better than .500
  16. So Leury-Moncada-Anderson-Abreu-McCann and RR still can put the other 4 names in the spittoon and draw them.
  17. Well Moncada has been bouncing up and down in the order based on LH/RH but unfortunately his LH batting has dropped more than his RH. But last night he is back in the 2nd spot and had his best game in 2 weeks. So he got promoted to the leadoff spot I guess.
  18. What is healthy? Both have a history of injuries so healthy probably means a full season which won't happen this year. So you either give them away( Jones) or you hold on and hope next July Rodon has some value.
  19. The way he has been hitting, he should walk more because teams my pitch around him.
  20. Probably not which is why they are below .500. They will most likely turn it around but they have had terrible starting pitching and their bullpen is suspect. In the only close game we took advantage of that bullpen. Their starters had a good series but they also got run support. They also received 28 walks in 4 games. Our AAA staff needs to work on that aspect................
  21. Remember this is tickets sold not actual attendance. MLB no show rate is about 20% https://www.latimes.com/la-sp-attendance-082305-story.html
