April 10 Gamethread 1:10pm first pitch
When I look at this rebuild, I would say that Rodon, Lopez, Gio, Anderson, Eloy and Moncada are all key elements of it. Phase 1 Phase 2 to me is Cease, Kopech, Burdi, Collins, Robert, Madrigal. Ironically that is 6 pitchers and 6 positional players. One or two others will develop in the minors and become part of the core. A few of the above will fizzle out. So half of our rebuild pieces , to me, are already on the MLB roster. If this year is worst than last, the rebuild may be longers than we think. Right now, the positional players are off to a good start but the pitchers are struggling. Really early but when we get to September , we need to see at least most of the 6 having solid years. Trading Rodon only sets the overall rebuild back unless you hit gold w the return. Especially since Gio, Lopez, Cease and Kopech are all RH.

I have come to the conclusion that a new manager won't help. A new pitching coach won't help. A new hitting coach won't help. They need an exorcist.

Let's not adopt Cub rituals, Sox fans
I had a similar experience as a kid at Fenway. Back in the 50's Fenway was not that crowded. I was 8 and ran after a ball in an empty aisle and was bending down to get it when a man coming the other direction dived and smothered it. That is probably why the next time I got a ball 50 years later, I gave it to the closest kid to our seat.

It is because they play half their games indoors...............

!00% agree. Last time I got a ball was in Tampa and I gave it to the closest kid. Every kid dies to get a ball. As an adult, I could care less except maybe if it was at a World Series.

Carlos rodon
True but we also will most likely have a couple more high draft picks by then. We could also have an elite infielder behind Moncada-Anderson-Madrigal.

Agree but Red Sox traded to get Sale. When the Sox become competitive again, they can always trade for an ace if none of our young prospects become one.

Unless they go get one like Cubs, Astros, Red Sox did.

Is GRF bad at being busy
I have been to Fenway numerous times. They always draw well so their staffing is set up to handle big crowds. Teams that get variances in crowds usually struggle when attendance jumps up. Boston does a good job of providing plenty of aisle vendors which takes some of the burden off the stands in the concourse. I have yet to see a stadium.though, that has found a way to limit the bathroom lines. But I am sure an app is being developed.

4/7- Sox vs Mariners, 1:10, WGN
No. Wondering why he was dropped to 5th today. Is RR reacting to a lefty starter or is he moving him down because he wants more production out of the middle of the lineup. Sometimes young players are affected by their position in the batting order.

Moncada has been on a tear. Why start moving him around in the order? Lefty or righty should not matter while he is hot.

Sox and Mariners Game #2
1 BB and 10 k's. Tough day at the plate.

Covey Sent Down
Just my theory. One explanation is his minor league career. He pitched very little in AA and AAA. So when he surfaced in the majors there was probably very limited info on him. As he pitched in the majors teams must have found some weaknesses and he has not been able to make adjustments.

3/30- Sox at Royals, 1:15 CDT, NBCSC
Remy said 30-45 minutes and the Sox were doing about 15. He also seemed to indicate it was casual as opposed to structured.

I don't agree. I think fans won't watch if the team is bad. They will watch if they don't think the manager is any good.

I posted several years ago that Jerry Remy, the Boston color announcer, commented about this during a really bad defensive showing by the White Sox in Boston. He said that as a former infielder, he was amazed that the White Sox do a very limited infield practice before road games. He said most teams do an extensive infield practice especially before the first game to get used to the infield nuances. He was surprised since Ventura was a former infielder. Maybe that has changed under RR.

Which isn't that important. The bigger question is does the team?

Agree but 10K's are concerning.

But if you spend all your day complaining about someone complaining about their wife, that doesn't make sense either.

I saw a quote from baseball person ( can't remember who) recently that said they don't consider someone an MLB prospect until they have had a successful year in AA. Interesting take.
