Earlier in the season, I complained about RR moving Yoan out of the 2nd spot against lefties. Several posters justified it w his history against lefties. Having said that, I still don't understand RR moving him down in the order. I wish somebody in the organization w a calculator could figure this out for Rick. It is still early but Yoan is quickly approaching 100 AB. So far: RH batter -28 AB--.286 avg. SO= 14% LH batter -66 AB--.318 avg. SO= 28% Yes he had problems in the past against lefties but so far he is doing pretty well this year. Overall he has really improved his SO rate and is actually doing better as a RH hitter with a small sample. But when does he struggle???? 2nd in batting order--58 AB--.362 avg. SO=26% 5th in batting order--28 AB--.179 avg SO= .25% He also had 8 AB in the leadoff spot. So in case no one in the organization is keeping stats, moving Yoan from 2nd to 5th for the games s a lefty starts is having a negative impact.

The Rick Hahn Dynasty
I think it is like everything else, you play the percentages. Remember less than 50% of Top 100 prospects make it in the MLB. It would be interesting to see what % of FA signings match or exceed their previous season.

The Rick Hahn Dynasty
Agree but a couple of last year's, Lorenzo Cain(6.9) and JD Martinez(6.4 )had huge years.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
I think JDM would be a great addition to the lineup and clubhouse. I don't see the FO giving him $150Mil for 5 years( at age 32) which is what it will most likely take. But he would look great on the South Side. He will also want a guarantee that he plays some % of games in the field but he is not Eloy out there.

The Anderson Saga (continued from game thread)
I understand your point but in sports today, that is not the case. As many have mentioned, every touchdown turns into a celebration these days. Most dunks gets a player doing a face and scream to the camera under the basket. Remember in hockey when a player scored a goal and the players on the ice celebrated. They still do. But someone started the 2nd phase which is to skate by the bench so they can get involved. So looking at sports today, celebrating a homerun is really no different than what they are doing in all the other major sports.

It is sad when we have to celebrate a BB. Where have you gone Joe DiMaggio....................

Rodon has been reliable this year.

I think it was retaliation for the guy showing up Moncada to end the 8th.

Yeah but they also have 14 of them.

The Anderson Saga (continued from game thread)
Actually I am amazed that a batter never loses control of his bat on a swing and it "'accidentally" heads towards the mound.

4/17 1:10 pm - White Sox v. Royals (Giolito v. Keller)
So the batter shouldn't celebrate at the plate. But there are jumping high-fives from the runners and guys coming out of the dugout after he crosses the plate. Imagine if when Tiger Woods went into his celebration on Sunday ,the runner-up threw a golf ball at him.

White Sox Winner!!
That is the big take-away. Especially Lopez. I think he is a critical piece of the rebuild since I feel Rodon is quality and Gio is suspect.

Anyone else want to claim Swihart / DFA Castillo
I didn't realize Swihart was a High School SS that the Red Sox converted to a catcher. Only 600 MLB at-bats. Stick him in AAA and see if the bat comes alive. He can play LF, C, IB. Small gamble. https://985thesportshub.com/2019/04/16/mccarthy-red-sox-panic-with-swihart-move/

He can also play 1st base.

Sox acquire Alex Colome For Narvaez
Sandy Leone was available but not someone I would want. I would have liked Swihart as a placeholder for Collins for his bat and versatility but I don't know if he was available. He supposedly was this winter

Josh Osich recalled
Maybe the FO thinks whatever is troubling Frare can be fixed in Charlotte easier than in Chicago. Osich just ends up being the temporary replacement until Frare looks capable of contributing at the MLB level. Not every player improves at the MLB level. Looks like the FO doesn't think Coop can fix him.

Updated with $/WAR: Every Hahn MLB Free Agent Signing since 2012/2013
Martinez had 12 game winning RBI's last year. But he also had a major influence on Mookie Betts whose average jumped 80 points. Agree on free agents. They are not concerned about the success rate Price is 39-19 w them. Good but not an ace. So they go out and add Sale. I was glad to see Theo go after he won 2 World Series. But their ownership spends and since Theo left they won 2 more. Frustrating to watch.

It depends on who is measuring it. Certainly fans would agree. But I bet JR sees the bottom line and thinks that is success. If Kenny and Hahn are well paid, they too are probably content if JR is happy. Obviously Kenny and Hahn have stayed in this organization for a long time despite JR not being committed to winning as the ultimate measure of success.

April 10 Gamethread 1:10pm first pitch
Remember that more than 50% of baseball's Top 100 Prospects fail. When we traded for Gio,he was not considered a wildcard. But I understand he probably is now. If as you say only 4 of the rebuild players should be on the roster going forward, then we need another 8 prospects out of our 16 best to make it to the MLB roster and be solid contributors. I Think Rodon may be more valuable to us than he will on the trade market. https://www.royalsreview.com/2018/3/22/16749948/updating-the-success-and-failure-rates-of-top-mlb-prospects
