I don't agree. I think fans won't watch if the team is bad. They will watch if they don't think the manager is any good.

I posted several years ago that Jerry Remy, the Boston color announcer, commented about this during a really bad defensive showing by the White Sox in Boston. He said that as a former infielder, he was amazed that the White Sox do a very limited infield practice before road games. He said most teams do an extensive infield practice especially before the first game to get used to the infield nuances. He was surprised since Ventura was a former infielder. Maybe that has changed under RR.

Which isn't that important. The bigger question is does the team?

Agree. Some of it is semantics. The White Sox may not have a clear #1 (i.e. Sale) but 3 or 4 solid starters would be great.

Hopefully Lopez has a big year as far as the rebuild. I think Rodon is a solid #2 starter and it would be great if Lopez turns out to be the same. Then in the next couple of years they can find a 1( Kopech?) and a 4 and 5 internally or externally.

FWIW---I posted a while back an interview with Dave Dombrowski on this same subject. . Boston also does not get hung up on service time. Remember they called up Moncada and Benintendi for a pennant race and followed the next year w Devers. But I though DD had some interesting observations. He said most organizations have their best coaches in the Majors so it can actually help the bridge from minors to majors for young players on the cusp. He also said there is a major difference in the lighting of AA/AAA stadiums and the majors. Seeing the ball better is a major advantage for young players.

But a major difference. Houston only had 6 years( 2009-2014) playing below .500. We just finished our 6th year below .500. So it looks like Houston started rebuilding in Year 1 of their slide and we started in Year 4.

Now that he is available, Hahn needs to hire Robert Mueller to find out who in the White Sox front office is leaking trades.

But remember Boston brought him up through the lower minors as a 2B. It was only as his reputation grew that they realized Pedroia was blocking him so they moved him his last year to 3B. I thought it made sense that the FO moved him back to 2nd because for us that seemed the shortest route to the bigs.

Hopefully the FO has put a lot of thought into this move. It certainly makes sense organizationally but so far Moncada has shown he can have problems with the mental aspects of the game. He had a good spring so hopefully his offense will be there as the season starts there and the defense can take a year to develop.

Also he loves their throwback uniforms.
