This is why people that JUST look at WAR are wildly annoying. .214 batting average with a .700 OPS in 2023. Despite his power hot streak in a limited sample size this year, that’s what Varsho is. He’s a glove 1st OF’er that is a liability in the lineup. He has never, nor will ever, have more value than Cease. His defense would have resulted in almost 0 for the Sox and the prospect package in flipping him would not have been better…regardless of what you think of the result.

Just seems like weird timing. Why not fire them before the season when you hired a new head coach? I just don’t like the idea of calling up all of “the kids” and then having them adjust to new coaching in the off-season. Let’s just hope they seek the best available coaches from any/all resources (aka not within the organization) to further develop these young players.

The only thing I have to say about the Vaughn situation is…at least I’m not surprised. This was extremely predictable And I still want an investigation into what happens to every Sox hitter. Getz needs to hurry up and trade Robert, people’s brains are melting in real time in this thread. Robert got like 8 hits and people are suddenly being picky about the return of arguably the worst hitter in the sport over the past 2 calendar years.

Don’t know anything about the prospects the Yankees gave up, but if the Rockies got anything useful back for McMahon it gives me some more hope about a Robert return

Phillies almost have to take a shot on Robert. There are very few potential impact OF bats available and they won’t be able to get any that are without including Painter or Miller…which they seem unwilling to do. Obviously that wouldn’t be necessary for Robert. Phillies ‘24 2nd Griffin Burkholder is struggling mightily, might be worth a shot as a buy low candidate in a Robert trade.

HS kid with average speed and profiles at best as a solid corner OF doesn’t get me too excited. Doesn’t leave a ton of wiggle on how good he needs to be with the bat.

Not at all upset with the pick, Carlson is a top 10 worthy talent. Unfortunately it’s just hard to be optimistic about this franchise developing a raw hitter.

Bring the Chicago kid home and draft Summerhill. His hit tool is very good and if he fills out and gets stronger he has 20/20 potential as an above CF. Wont be mad with 1 of the HS SS’s, but just feel like Summerhill’s profile screams good major leaguer

Slump? To continue your use of a simile…calling what’s happening to Robert a slump is like calling Mount Everest a small hill. Jerry will be $35M in the hole paying Robert to break out of his 2 year “slump” if his option is picked up. I have a hard time believing that will be an option

There was a slight glimmer of hope for a couple of weeks there…and now it’s total gloom and doom again. Starting to feel like a miracle will need to happen to get anything of value for Robert at this point.

I hope someone is keeping a spreadsheet of all of these names that have come and gone from the roster in the last few years (and likely next few). It’s going to be long list and no one will remember 75% of them in 5 years

I still think the Phillies will get involved if Robert continues to hit, their need for a CF with power is almost too obvious. Don’t know if Miller or Crawford will be on the table at this point, and the Phillies don’t have a ton of other hitting prospects, but I’m sure something could be worked out.

Not going to pretend to know what Colson has/hasn’t done, but what about ALL of 2024 too? The problem is that he just refuses to listen to the Sox great hitting development? How about TA, Moncada, Eloy, Robert, Vaughn, and literally anyone that swings a baseball bat that comes into the organization?

There needs to be a documentary done about how the Sox ruined so much talent. Is there something in the water? Did the MonStars land and take everyone’s talent? Questions need to be answered

The entire MLB draft process needs to be burned to the ground and redone. They’ve somehow made it more difficult for bad teams to get better under the guise of “you need to spend more $” while there’s 0 teeth behind it to enforce anything.
