  1. Adam Dunn for Willie McCovey and two discarded seats from Candlestick Park.
  2. Where does he start this year? Birmingham?
  3. Mitchell has no hope. Sent to Birmingham? He was in Charlotte to start last season. At this rate, he'll be back in Winston-Salem by June. The only reason he's still around is he is a former #1 draft pick -- and Buddy Bell has some crazy idea that he still has a chance.
  4. There's an apartment waiting for him in Charlotte.
  5. Where is the word coming from that Goldberg is getting a lot of attention in camp? Just curious. Also like the Boggs' pickup.
  6. Three jerseys -- pinstripes, black and the 83 style. Nothing special for Sundays only. Starting pitcher makes the call, right?
  7. New York post says the White Sox are scouting Yankees' back-up catchers -- Cervelli, Romine and Murphy. Speculates that the Yankees could have interest in Beckham or Keppinger. http://nypost.com/2014/02/25/yanks-can-use...ss-other-needs/
  8. I wish the Sox would cool it on what a great contract they got Sale to sign. No need to look like they got over on their best player.
  9. I just can't imagine a guy who hit .167 during his fourth pro season while getting demoted to AA being in the big leagues. And striking out in more than a third of his at bats. The guy can't hit -- no matter what Buddy Bell says.
  10. Great stuff. enjoyed the research and analysis you put into it. If I had to rank them as most likely to make it to US Cellular Field, I'd go this way: 1. Thompson -- best overall offense to date and chance to be a plus outfielder. 2. Hawkins -- power potential to separate himself from the others. 3. Walker -- ability to play multiple spots and not consumed with HRs. 4. Mitchell -- honestly don't see any way this guy ever becomes who sticks on a big-league roster.
  11. Maybe they're hoping Dunn pops a hammy and has to spend three months on the DL.
  12. Thanks for all your hard work and creativity.
  13. he was a prince of a guy who became one of the best scouts in baseball, first for the Giants and then the Braves. just an old school baseball guy, who loved the game. Was grinding long hours last summer, hanging out at the cell before the trading deadline. RIP Jimmy.
  14. Thanks for doing this. Very enjoyable to read. Tribune and Sun-Times just don't supply nearly enough White Sox news.
  15. replaced Tony LaRussa in 1986. Managed some teams with little talent -- Fred Manrique, Ozzie, Ivan Calderon, Gary Redus. Got fired right before McDowell, Ventura, Frank and Fernandez gave the Sox a core of solid talent.
  16. Thanks for the write-ups. Good stuff. I'll go with Goldberg as a pitcher. Did well at three levels and was one of the better pitchers in the Big Ten. position players I'll take Coats. Think he would have been a higher pick without the injury.
  17. pretty certain only two years left on Keppinger. Damn certain only one year left on Dunn. Counting the minutes.
  18. Check Herrmann's power numbers at Comiskey. hit 19 one season there in a big-time pitchers park where it was 352 feet down the lines.
  19. nothing to lose. collect enough pieces like this and some will work out.
  20. Morel is just a guy. Don't think he will ever hit with enough power to play 3B as a regular in the big leagues.
  21. Officer Karkovice.
  22. 1. Abreu 2. E. Johnson 3. Semien 4. Davidson 5. Webb 6. M. Johnson 7. Hawkins (not a believer that he'll manage the Ks) 8. Sanchez 9. Bassit 10. Anderson 11. Danish 12. May 13. Snodgrass 14. Beck 15. Engel Sorry, Buddy Bell. Not believing the Jared Mitchell hype. Keep talking him up and maybe somebody will take him in a deal.
  23. I thought he grew up a Sox fan.
  24. so happy to know that Hahn and The Chairman were as discouraged by last season as the fan base. Hahn definitely is executing a plan. He knows what he wants -- and what he doesn't want. I always thought Williams was too impulsive with his deals and frequently gave up too much. Don't have the same feeling with Hahn. Better times ahead.
