  1. Thompson is our most ready OF prospect -- and I don't expect to see him until June/July 2014 at the earliest. Unlike a few others, Sox have not rushed him. He seems to have developed the ability to overcome adversity, critical to success in the big leagues. He's got a chance, which is something I can't say about Mitchell or Walker.
  2. Have we ever scored a run on Balfour -- even including his tampa days?
  3. Kenny Williams left Rick Hahn an extraordinary mess. Just waiting for The Chairman to nod and say, "pull the pin." It's time.
  4. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 02:39 AM) I could go my entire life without watching Dunn bat again. make it three.
  5. Best game of the year for Beck?
  6. good to know these guys are excited about coming on board. somebody needs to get word to them that plenty of playing time is available ASAP
  7. We're at the point in this season where what Phegley, Johnson, Beck, Sanchez, Thompson, Hawkins and the others are doing means more to me than what is happening at 35th and Dan Ryan.
  8. First three guys hit safely against Zimmer -- and then Hawkins delivers a two-run double. Five hits and five runs. Zimmer leaves after 2/3.
  9. I'm also in favor of trading Alexei. His brain cramps, refusal to take walks and inconsistencies are not going to change. His power has disappeared this season. Don't have an answer for who can replace him. options are not good -- Beckham, Sanchez, Morel. But it's a start to reducing payroll to find some future pieces.
  10. Baseball America ranks him #50 overall, ahead of our second and third round picks.
  11. When is the next Sox pick?
  12. Tough to get excited about a guy with a .288 career batting average with an aluminum bat as well as a 62 percent SB percentage.
  13. And the Tigers take Thompson out of Louisville at #94. that hurts.
  14. Baseball America rated him 203, so it's the second straight pick where the Sox valued their pick much higher than others. Drafted by the Reds in the 39th round out of high school. Only a .288 career hitter in college, although he never hit into a double play. Thrown out 10 times in 26 steal attempts this season. Not so sure about this one -- in the third round.
  15. he's the son of former Red' first baseman Lee May, which means he is the nephew of former Sox outfield Carlos May.
  16. is this on TV or only the internet?
  17. Like to see the Sox take Jeffrey Thompson, 6-6 righty out of Louisville. Big East pitcher of the year. Nice hard slider. will face Vandy tomorrow. Be a good pick in fourth or fifth round.
  18. Story from Tampa paper says he had a better senior season than Doc Gooden, Kenny Rogers or any Tampa area HS pitcher ever. http://tbo.com/plant-city/purks-durants-ty...ver-b82495546z1
  19. Red Sox allegedly liked him.
  20. biggest question about Anderson is competition he played against. Don't have the background to judge what kind of pitching he faced at East Central Community College in Decatur, Miss. Another slight red flag is that for a guy who grew up in SEC country, he was committed to UAB, not an SEC school next season. Legitimate concern? Bee Bee Richard II?
  21. Story on Anderson from the Tuscaloosa paper. led his team to high school state title. Stole 30 bases in 30 attempts as a college freshman. http://www.tuscaloosanews.com/article/2013.../NEWS/130309997
  22. Do the White Sox have another pick tonight?
