How Much Rope Does Dunn Have?
It's up to the Chairman. That's a monstrous contract to eat. But if Dunn keeps rolling like this, the booing that he endured in 2011 will seem like a standing ovation compared to what he's going to be hearing at The Cell. Media hasn't turned on him yet. But they will.

Adam Dunn's failed experiment
Every time I look at Adam Dunn, I am thankful that Rick Hahn is in charge -- and mindful of why he didn't have the flexibility to make any significant moves last winter Thanks again, Kenny.

Konerko / Dunn
The only additional contact I want from Dunn is the door hitting him in his ample rear end when we finally pay him the last pile of the wasted $56 million and we can finally move on with somebody who can do more for less. Unfortunately that won't be for a good bit. Until then just have to suffer through it.

Angel Sanchez to DL
Former first-round pick of the Braves out of Georgia Tech. Can't hit a lick -- .292 OBP in nearly 700 career big-league plate appearances. but I'm betting that at some point Baseball America rated him one of the Braves' top prospects.

4/14 Games
Hope Phegley keeps coming on. Not a believer in Flowers. Having two 200-K guys in the lineup is maddening.

4/14 Games
This is more power than Phegley has shown during his pro career. Any explanations? good pitching across the board today. Are any these pitchers solid prospects?

4/13 games
Agree on Johnson (especially), Beck and Snodgrass. There's hope with some of the young arms. As for Hawkins, what is the reasoning behind putting a 19 year old kid in high A ball and let him flail like that? I don't get it. Doesn't it make more sense to put him at a level where he can succeed and get his confidence where it needs to be? Thompson wasn't rushed like this. He didn't get to Winston Salem until last season when he was 21. He seems to be improving slowly but consistently. Can anybody explain what the plan is with Hawkins? We have too many whiff kings on the big-league roster. We have mitchell who had four more Ks in four at-bats tonight and is never going to be a big-league regular. I really don't get it.

I Got Spirit Yes I Do ! I Got Spirit , How bout you ?
Wait 'til next year!

Konerko / Dunn
Adam Dunn one of Kenny Williams' final gifts to White Sox fans everywhere. Look on the bright side: We're now officially more than halfway through his contract and by the time it's over one of our young guys can take over at about 1/30th of the price.

Sox trade RP Jeff Soptic for 3B Conor Gillaspie
According to Baseball America: 2009 -- Giants #7 prospect. 2010 -- #17. 2011 -- #17. 2012 -- #13. 2013 -- no longer rated in top 30 and third on SF minor league board -- behind Adam Duvall and Chris Dominguez among SF minor-league third basemen.

Sox trade RP Jeff Soptic for 3B Conor Gillaspie
Jim Leyland lit another smoke and started pacing over that development.

Most Pleasant Surprise of 2013
Paulie stays healthy all year, continues his push toward 500 HRs, signs a deal to finish his career with the Sox and positions himself to make the HOF.
-
Will Coop Fix 'Em?
Brackman regressed from AAA to High A last summer -- and still finished with 65 hits and 42 walks in 63 innings. He's got a better chance of making the NBA.

Ventura stressing more contact and less K's
other than the 2012 White Sox, the answer to the question is the 2011 White Sox, when Dunn hit third for that group.
-
Ventura stressing more contact and less K's
Sounds great -- until you realize that Tyler Flowers is going to play full time and Buddy Bell was talking up Jared Mitchell at Sox Fest. If they make a deal for Mark Reynolds, I'll know they're really serious.

Kudos goes out to H Santiago
Makes you want to pull for Hector. I'd like to see him as our fifth starter.

Sox were scouting Javier Vazquez
Why didn't he pitch last season?

AJ Pierzynski Appreciation thread
Considering Flowers was acquired for a guy who has already retired (Javy), it seems as if he has been around forever. It's time to see what he can do. He deserves the chance. But ... heaven help him if he bombs. That ain't Mark Johnson, Jorge Fabregas or Ben Davis that you're replacing, son.

AJ Pierzynski Appreciation thread
And then there was one -- Paulie, the last connection to 2005. Game Two of the ALCS was the only post-season game I was fortunate to attend. That game was the key to the post-season run -- and A.J. outthinking Josh Paul, Doug Eddings and everybody else was key to winning that game. Thanks for the memories A.J. wish you the best -- except for those six games every year.

AJ will not return to Sox
if the Sox have any conviction that Flowers is a big-league catcher, it's time to give him a chance. Sure seems that many of the pitchers prefer throwing to him. He's better at stopping the running game. I'm ready to move on -- and use the AJ money elsewhere.

AFL and Instructional League thread
Carlos Sanchez goes 5 for 5 with a double and four singles, steals two bases and still isn't named best prospect hitter of the day by Baseball America because some dude with the Yankees -- David Adams -- goes 3 for 5 with two HRs. Wow. Sanchez up to .323. Not bad for a kid.
-
AJ files for FA
AJ said no hometown discount, so my guess is see ya. Paulie will reign as the last piece from 2005, which is at it should be. time to get younger I don't have any faith in Flowers because of his enormous K rate. But it's time to try Plan B.

Wilkins homers. Thompson singles in two runs and walks. Sanchez singles in first three ABs.
