The addition of the second wild card only helps Hahn. More teams than ever believe they can make the playoffs. Crain, Thornton and Lindstrom all valuable pieces. The trick is to find another Kenny Williams -- and get somebody to overpay for a White Sox player. Giddyup, Mr. Hahn.

Been a good week in the push for Carlos Rodin or Tyler Beede. Let's keep it going. We currently are in line for the 6th pick. But we can get to third. It will be tough. But it's definitely doable.

And people like Kenny Williams are why the Chicago White Sox are dying -- in the standings and at the box office. Rogers is a soldier. Williams was a general -- and a reckless one.

If I'm a betting man, there will be a new person in charge next season. Robin likely does not need the money and he knows this team is going to struggle for several years. My guess is that Joe McEwing is running the show next season. And I'm fine with that.

I don't really think that's the case. Rogers was critical of Williams last year because of some of the deals he made and contracts that he offered. He's one of the few guys who didn't believe that winning the World Series in 2005 gave Williams a lifetime pass from criticism. He didn't like the way he emptied the farm system -- and he thought the farm system underperformed. And my guess is that there are folks around the White Sox who also believe that folks looked the other way from some of Williams' excesses. I doubt Rogers just cooked up a story line that Williams was lazy. Not that kind of guy. Cowley? Maybe. Mariotti? Absolutely. Rogers? I don't think so.

I complained about Hawkins being rushed and striking out too much. But gotta say that he's been better since returning from injury -- and he's second in the Carolina League in HRs now after missing 30 games. That's pretty ridiculous.

Mitchell 27 Ks in 53 at bats in his second attempt at AA. Maybe he can be traded to the Bears. lost cause.
