  1. Dunn will have his 1-for-27 streak, get hot for three days and then crawl back into the abyss. We're stuck until The Chairman decides to swallow Kenny Williams' poison pill.
  2. I don't expect to see Gonzalez in the big leagues this season. He's repeating AA -- and the benefits are obvious. I'm fine with letting him stay where he is -- and hoping he can help us down the road.
  3. If the Sox lose again on Thursday, I'm ready to try anything. What's it going to hurt? Considering his age and all-around performance, I expect Micah Johnson to get bumped to Hi-A ball soon. Maybe Phegley or Gonzalez will eventually get a chance to catch. And we have a few arms.
  4. Sure looks unlikely that they'll play any more tonight. Split DH at separate parks tomorrow?
  5. What happened to Molina? Saw he left after three scoreless.
  6. I understand the suggestions on giving Phegley more seasoning. I realize he won't come to the big leagues and excel immediately. But Tyler Flowers is not a big-league starting catcher. His strikeout totals have been a constant throughout his career And he's looked awful this year blocking balls in the dirt. He can't do the job -- not as the guys getting the majority of the starts.
  7. Phegley triple and home run tonight. plus he threw out a runner. What's the harm?
  8. and Phegley threw out a runner. Triple and homer. just saying.
  9. Jones should go down, regroup and regain his confidence and control. Flowers should go down because he is not a major league player. Didn't expect him to hit much. But he's terrible on blocking balls in the dirt -- and flat out misses more balls than I can believe.
  10. 10,000 empty seats. cubs fans in front row behind sox dugout. terrible D. one hit. nightmare
  11. looks like cooper ripped flowers on that trip.
  12. Is Gonzalez still a prospect at catcher? Between Phegley, Gonzalez, Blanke and Smith, somebody needs to step forward as a legit big-league catcher. Gonzalez was highly touted several years ago -- then fell off the radar Still young for AA (22). Appreciate any insight from folks who have actually seen him.
  13. Johnson showing lots of reasons for Sox Fans to get excited
  14. He never reminded me of Norberto Martin or D'Angelo Jimenez (still playing for Newark Bears allegedly) or Tony Graffanino.
  15. agree on Jones. He needs to pitch more consistently and sharpen his command.
  16. Is there any update on when Courtney Hawkins will be playing again? Haven't heard anything on him for several weeks.
  17. Better to be careful. And maybe cut back on his pitch counts, Robin.
  18. Testing in the minor leagues is even more rigorous than the major leagues because the minor leaguers are not protected by the Players' Association. Guys who have tried to beat the system have gotten busted often over recent years. I'd say it's more of a case of a guy who has always been a good hitter finally overcoming a serious health issue and raising his confidence by repeating a level. I don't expect him to show that kind of power in the big leagues. But if his catching and throwing skills are at all comparable to either Flowers or Gimenez, I'd love to see Phegley get a chance.
  19. FREE JOSH PHEGLEY NOW!
  20. Kruk didn't even make it until the end of the season. And they said nothing meaningful about Dunn. just said that he and Konerko have to produce for the Sox to be better, How about analyzing what is wrong with Dunn -- and whether he might not be able to fix it?
  21. more improvement by Danks. 6 innings, 7 hits, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K.
  22. Danks allows three singles, a double and two runs. no Ks in first inning. 26 pitches, 19 strikes
  23. not until they get salary relief and fix the farm system. Sit back, relax and ... well, you know the rest. It'g going to be awhile.
  24. I just checked. Even the Chattanooga Lookouts said they'll pass on the Donkey.
  25. Tyler Beede, Vanderbilt pitcher, should be the goal. Pretty sure he is unbeaten for the Vandy team ranked either #1 or #2 in every college baseball poll. 13-0 with 86 Ks in 83 innings. Only 47 hits allowed. Does have high walk rate -- 49 with 7 hbp. Coop will fix that.
