  1. I do love them taking a guy off the IL and letting him throw a 40 pitch inning in a meaningless game though.
  2. You say that, but if he walks everyone, they have to take him out eventually.
  3. Welp, that game was fun.

This Moncada fellow just made an error.
  5. This is not gonna take long.
  6. 2nd half TA looks suspiciously like first half TA.

Some guy named Yoan Moncada had a single for Charlotte. 28 already, probably a non-prospect. MiLB uses a picture of him from Boston, btw.

DSL lost. Scored 1 run on 9 hits, 1-9 w/RISP, so on brand. Stiven Flores had a reputation as a bat-first catcher and he's living up to it. 3-4, 2b, up to .448.
  9. That list is in for some major overhaul later in the season as well. I count 12 guys on there who will probably blow through their eligibility in the 2nd half, and there are a lot of guys hanging on by reputation despite pretty poor production like Cartaya and Gavin Stone. There already are a lot of 2023 draftees on this list, I think you'll see tons more over the winter. Interesting that Colas has dropped, not surprised. The next Sox guys who could be considered figure to be Ramos, Gonzalez, maybe Cannon. Problem with Sox prospects like Gonzalez and Cannon is ceiling. Mena's ERA doesn't quite match how dominant he's been at times. A mixture of walks, a relatively bad strand rate, and the horrific inherited runner luck he's had because of Birmingham's semi-professional bullpen has obscured a pretty good season for him. Other guys potentially on the rise: Nunez, Burrowes, Ronny Hernandez.
  10. Please, $75 million. The Sox do not spend $100 million on anyone.
  11. Who has anything against disco music now? What's next, Lindy Hop Destruction Night?
  12. Sox timing sucks again. 2024 is not a super strong draft and it will be their only Top Ten pick for a while.
  13. 5/10 either 1b or 2b profiles. (Tommy Tanks is no 3b) Not the strongest draft, but Sox should get a solid player. It's hilarious that our two worst draft positions in a long while have given us players with the most upside (Schultz & Montgomery). Even picking first, Sox would be hard-pressed to get a player like either of those guys.
  14. Isn’t Keppinger the worst FA signing in Sox history?
  15. I am going the 20th. Chance to see some real bad baseball from two disappointing teams.
  16. I think if they tear it down to the studs, Andrus and Grandal should both be released. They've got to gut that toxic clubhouse and give playing time to folks who may be here moving forward.
  17. Wolkow being 17 makes for an interesting case study. A lot of orgs struggle developing younger guys, which explains why the draft keeps getting more college heavy. I wonder if, as the minor leagues shrink, you may see a system develops similar to hockey in which you draft guys but the play 2-3 years in college anyway OR if baseball takes a page from soccer and starts fielding teams that are all 19U. Complex leagues can be useful, but I think nothing helps development more than actual competition and the minors don't really provide that.

He really does not strike out that much -- 72 ab 18bb 8K. That's like a 9% K rate. I wonder if that will translate in the US.
  19. Anyone else concerned that in their meeting with him, according to Gonzalez, the Sox broke down his weird-ass swing on video? Did they draft a bat-first player at 15 so they can completely retool his admittedly unorthodox swing?
  20. If Gonzalez is truly a 30 runner, he very well may end up at 1b/DH. That is, if he can hit.
  21. Pick sponsored by Rush Orthopedic.
  22. Is Gonzalez really better than Sosa or Rodriguez? If not, slot him into the latter half of their Top Ten. Taylor... geez, reliever risk coming back from TJS without a defined off-speed pitch, you can't have him ahead of chultz, Mena, Cannon, McDougal, or Pallette. He's got to be around Thompson or the somewhat resurgent Kelley. Maybe the 15th best player in a weak system? I just don't see the upside with either of these guys.
  23. Pallette part 2.
  24. Wow. Detroit gets Clark and McGonigle.
  25. Yeah, pretty low for Houck.
