  1. It was part of a joke on how little I want to see Goodwin in a Sox uni.
  2. Bieber out after 4.2. Threw 100 pitches. Somebody understands the key is laying off the 60% of pitches he throws out of the strike zone. M’s with one hell of a game plan.
  3. For me: 1. Sheets 2. Luis Gonzalez 3. Marco Hernandez 4. Rutherford 5. Seby Zavala 6. Me 7. Goodwin
  4. Cease deserves a big piece of this win. No earnies. Keeps them in the game when they are not playing that well. Reinforcements may be coming. Guys in Charlotte are hitting, so the Sox have options.
  5. Sheets with his second homer of the game!
  6. Heuer needs to figure it out. He went from lights out to a guy getting hit at a .400 clip on his bread and butter pitch. With Foster and Marshall also struggling, hard to fault TLR for bullpen usage. He's only got 2 reliable relievers.
  7. This is what I was afraid of. Even if you get out of it, who's got the 8th now? TLR does not trust the new Dylan.
  8. I do believe that is every Sunday for them. Dress for the job you want, I guess.
  9. At 88 pitches and the with the state of the Sox pen, that's a risky hook by TLR. I guess Crochet, Bummer, and Hendricks are all available, but I would have liked to get into the 7th with Dylan.
  10. I think Dylan could have gotten this guy out. KC's line up falls off a cliff after Soler.
  11. Don't look now, but the last catcher on our 40 man, Seby Zavala, now has 4 HR.
  12. Stiever done for the day 5IP 6H 2R 2ER 3BB 9K.
  13. Oppo taco for Luis Gonzalez.
  14. HR for the much-maligned Luis Gonzalez in his first game back!
  15. I hope Madrigal is good. My point is, his path to be a better-than-average contributor is narrow. His path to be the kind of impact player you hope to get drafting #4 is tiny.
  16. Also, Marco Hernandez is ripping the ball and he hits lefthanded. I thought he looked okay in the Spring. Any chance he gets some utility run later in the year?
  17. I get it's a small park where the ball jumps but Sheets hit that waaay back.
  18. Of course not. My concern is the profile. Righthanded hitter with no power and very few walks. He's got 70 bat to ball skills, maybe 60 speed. 50 defense and a 40 arm (at best). He's got to hit .320 to be a plus player over there. We were sold plus defense, he's nowhere near that. Ceiling is a 3 win player, but a medium outcome is Darwin Barney without the GG D. There's a reason players of this profile are not picked often in the first half of the first round. Compare Madrigal to Nicky Lopez. Lopez hasn't been a great hitter thus far in his career, but he hits lefthanded. The defense is plus, and he can play shortstop in a pinch. The speed is at least as good as Madrigal's if not a half grade better, and he was a 5th rounder. That's where you take second basemen. Not #4 in the draft.
  19. You're probably right. But it doesn't mean they wouldn't be better that way.
  20. True. I was a big fan of the Anderson pick because the upside in all of his xbh was evident.
  21. Ouch. His profile is so strange that consistency would be one selling point. Sox getting close to a decision point that I would have thought unlikely a year ago: Long-term are the Sox better with Madrigal at second and Moncada at third OR Moncada at second and Burger at third? Moncada's not a great second baseman, but neither is Madrigal. And at least Moncada has the arm to consistently turn two. Right now defensively Burger @ 3rd > Madrigal @ 2nd.
  22. I was anti-Madrigal, meh Singer, pro-Kelenic, but I'm wrong plenty, so that means nothing. Hopefully, the Sox are making a turn to at least considering more HS hitters. Removing an entire category of players from consideration is no way to have success in the draft.
  23. Ugh, I’m getting a bad feeling about all these missed opportunities. Letting KC stay in the game.
