  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) Saw someone say LaRoche never thanked the fans in his letter Well I don't thank him for being on the White Sox, so I understand.
  2. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 02:50 PM) Are you saying you don't agree with #FamilyFirst? That's putting it lightly.
  3. It starts with Adam LaRoche. If he has the perspective to realize how reasonable the request was, none of this happens.
  4. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) That's music to my ears because I have 0 interest in going rogue, and I would be very pissed off if someone came after me for no reason. There should almost be an option like GTA 5 has called "passive mode" where you opt in to PvP or not. Maybe if you choose passive mode you have 25% less chance of finding a rare item or something like that. I mean, the opt-in to PvP is the fact that there's a section of the map where PvP is allowed, and everywhere else has none. All the gear I use has come independent of the Dark Zone anyway, so it isn't necessary for the best stuff. The rogue system is one of the things that's unique about the game and something they pushed heavily before it came out. It's the most interesting thing about the DZ and it's potential is being wasted now.
  5. Dear God can somebody please tranquilize Chris Sale
  6. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) Do you really believe what you are typing? Caulfield, what's about the only thing that would fix this?
  7. So which players do we specifically know have complained. Eaton, Sale, and to a lesser extent, Frazier and Duke. Anybody I'm missing?
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) Well Sale is complaining the loudest. I don't think KW has it in him to hold back if he was the one who went to him. Haha I totally agree with this. That would take all-world patience.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) oh wow Julie DiCaroVerified account ‏@JulieDiCaro @MJ_Baumann There are people in media who believe the guys complaining the loudest may have been the ones who complained. Something to that effect came out yesterday.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:24 PM) The point being those who rip KW constantly are now ripping Chris Sale because he is ripping KW. It's right on point. You're still creating a profoundly ridiculous equivalency.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) No but he's also not doing anything this board wouldn't be doing if it was a player we liked as much as he apparently like LaRoche. What a completely stupid point. The difference between somebody on this message board sounding off on KW and a player on the White Sox doing it to the media is wider than the Grand Canyon.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:49 AM) I missed the fact that LaRoche threw a temper-tantrum. Do you have a link, or are you just making up things and calling them facts? Textbook deflection.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:42 AM) http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/laroche...te-sox-ventura/ Wouldn't the fact the kid had his own locker and uniform be an indication as well? I interpret that as them doing a nice thing. You actually believe they specifically agreed to 100% access for the kid, something that is really rather unprecedented, to sign Adam LaRoche.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:23 AM) I don't think the Sox acted wrong (with the exception of any promises they may or may not have made prior to signing Adam as those really aren't promises that you can / should make to a player as the clubhouse is dynamic and belongs to the player). I'd also say allowing for that probably isn't a wise decision anyway as there is a time and a place for family and there is a time and a place to be professional and have that closed clubhouse. I also don't have any issue with LaRoche retiring, he's 100% entitled to it. I don't think he should drag it through the media, but I don't necessarily think he did. I think others had an issue with it and some players on the club were clearly tight with him and Duke and have made it an issue. I'd argue it is admirable for them to stick up, but also looking at the guys who are sticking up, they tend to be the more over-reactionary hot-heads vs. the true leaders. I agree that LaRoche did not want this to leak but his silence has been deafening. He could have released a statement to calm things down a long time ago. Something like, "We had a disagreement, I chose to go my separate ways, I respect the organization and my ex-teammates." That's it. Even if he doesn't respect the organization, that's what people do. Instead all we have are the piles and piles of retweets coming from his meat company. And if you think that twitter feed doesn't represent his voice you are kidding yourself. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:31 AM) There's a huge difference between a written, legally binding contract and an off-the-record gentleman's agreement that may or may not have been made. Thank you.
  15. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) I grabbed it last weekend. Probably have about 10 hours into it and i'm level 10ish. I like the missions (though don't do what I did and waste and hour or two trying to solo a level 8 recommended mission at level 6...), but I agreed with a lot of the IGN review....it's not exactly an exciting environment. There's not enough random stuff that happens when running from place to place. And I can see how grinding for another 20 hours to get to level 30 is going to become a little boring since the AI is very repetitive. Still, the missions are fun so far, the customization on weapons is fun. I like building up the various wings in the base. I just wish there was more random AI interference in the non-dark zone areas. I haven't gone to the dark zone yet. Are you supposed to if you're low level? Or will you just get picked off immediately? In regards to the AI being repetitive, as somebody who's level 30 and is in the endgame, the AI starts getting more aggressive and using more interesting tactics. They gain access to skills such as the ones you use. The Dark Zone is gated, so if you go in as a level 10 you won't run into 30's. I'd recommend going in and trying it out a bit before you hit max level. The reason is that you have a separate DZ level that you need to purchase items in there. I waited until the end so I couldn't buy anything until I hit DZ level 30 and I just have tens of thousands of DZ credits burning a hole in my pocket. There are serious balance issues in the Dark Zone. There's almost no reason to go rogue. Theoretically the main draw would be to take somebody's loot, but good stuff drops from AI so frequently that the chances of you getting something off a player that is better than what you already have equipped are pretty low. So you're left with the huge experience and DZ credit penalty when you die as a rogue. They need to lighten those penalties substantially, not just a little.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:22 AM) Maybe it is ridiculous. But my stance is it doesn't matter. If Hahn and Robing gave their word it was good before he signed, whether it was in the contract or not, the White Sox should be held to their word. That's it. We get that. What about the fact that it was LaRoche who walked away when asked to compromise?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 10:12 AM) It seemed like LaRoche didn't want the story out himself, but his story has sure been encouraged and told by a lot of people in his camp, not to mention his company's twitter account basically telling his story with what they retweeted. To me that is worst of all. If you want to talk, talk. If you don't, stay out of it, and don't use backdoors to do it. In the 21st century it isn't hard to connect the dots. THIS THIS THIS.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2016/03/17/whi...-laroche-drama/ Most important thing from that: An ESPN report that the White Sox players considered boycotting Wednesday’s spring game in show of support for LaRoche wasn’t incorrect but was also “exaggerated,” a source said. It was a thought among a few players that didn’t gain any more traction, the source said.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:38 PM) In case you were worried that the Republicans were obstructing this because they were honestly concerned about voters, they've come out and basically said their strategy would be to not hold a hearing, and if hillary is elected, approve the nomination so that she can't make an alternative pick. Democracy. Can't Obama tell them to S his C on election night if the Dems are winning and nominate someone else?
  20. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) I didn't read any of his tweets about this so I don't know. Was anything really that bad? Just retweeting a bunch of #FamilyFirst stuff. Nothing specifically bad but could be read as a sort of open revolt. Tangent: The Oscars thing was stupid and he should have known better. Eaton has the right to do whatever he wants in his down time and use twitter, but he's starting to make a habit of letting things get away from him a little bit on there.
  21. QUOTE (shakes @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 02:14 PM) Then he truly should've shut his mouth, and not expose his son as the scapegoat(instead protect him), and start hash tagging #FamilyFirst and have his family and agent cry to every media outlet that will listen. If Jordan did that, I would say the same thing about Jordan. This is the most important thing. LaRoche is the one who let this stupid thing get out of control.
  22. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) Am I the only one who thinks this won't impact their play on the field? Consistent with my amusingly-timed rant earlier this week about chemistry, I think it might but it could be good or bad. I mean again, we've all seen Major League and what happens when the players hate upper management.
  23. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) Has anyone credible confirmed KW guaranteed LaRoche's kid access 100% of the time? There is a big difference between telling someone the clubhouse is family friendly (which never changed) and guaranteeing 100% access every single day. No. Unless you consider Kaplan and his phenomenal source credible.
  24. Exclusive photo of Chris Sale during meeting with Kenny Williams:
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 12:20 PM) That isn't the point, and yet people continue to argue it as if it is. The point is that the Sox told him he could have his kid around all the time and then they changed their mind, after he relied upon their decision to come to his own decision to sign here. Obviously if the Sox agreed to this in the first place, that is one piece of evidence suggesting that professional sports, and baseball in particular, is NOT similar to the working environments the rest of us report to every day. Would you even make this request in your job interview? Can you imagine what your prospective employer would say? Of course you wouldn't. And your prospective employer would laugh in your face. And yet, LaRoche DID make this request, and the White Sox AGREED to this! So can we please stop with the comparisons to my freaking office job or someone's job as a butcher and all the other bs comparisons I am reading? This is specifically why I said it's rare even for athletes. But leaving aside that perhaps the fact that the kid would be on site 24/7 was not made clear at the time of this agreement, the point still stands that LaRoche is the one who walked out when they asked him to compromise. If he had said "no, I'd like my son continue spending all his time with me," and they had said "fine, you're benched," he'd have a grievance.
