In this version of the US where abortion is illegal, you'd be better off punishing the practitioners of abortions rather than the women desperate enough to seek them. I hate Trump. I'm pro-choice. But I have to ask, is there one person whose mind this quote changes?

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) Been a very hot spring down there from what I can tell. Lots of 80s and 90s even early in March. The usual highs are in the low 70s I believe. Yeah, I was wondering if weather could have something to do with it. Here are the MLB AB's/homer last season by month. Apr 37.5 May 34.3 Jun 35.7 Jul 34.6 Aug 31.3 Sep 31.0 Draw your own conclusions.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) I think the league has juiced the balls this year. Not only are guys hitting a lot more homers, they are clearing walls by a huge margin. Good spring training stats are annoying to find, but best I can tell, home runs are happening every 31.9 AB's league-wide this spring, compared to every 40.5 AB's last spring. That's an enormous increase. Not saying juiced balls are definitely the reason, but was curious to see the numbers for myself.

Frazier annihilated that thing.

Nice rangy play by Lawrie.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 12:54 PM) How do you figure that Rollins hit worse than Saladino/Flowers last year? Guessing batting average. Which... yeah.

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Mar 29, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 40s40 seconds ago #WhiteSox down to 31 players in camp. In-house battle for last man is down to: Jerry Sands, Travis Ishikawa or possibly 13th pitcher. It can't be Sands. You either carry Sands or Avi. Both are redundant.

Dan Hayes @CSNHayes 3m3 minutes ago Carlos Sanchez, one of several players to talk to manager today, has a team-high 54 at-bats this spring. Hitting .333/.368/.593. Hope he gets another extended shot in MLB, if not with us than with somebody else. He will end up being a significantly better player than he showed last year.

Report: Royals to seek revenge on Mets for World Series brushback I needed a reminder of how obnoxious the Royals are, and this arrived just in time!

Everyone Else is an improvement over Hawk.

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Mar 25, 2016 -> 01:38 AM) I don't agree that Rodon has Sale's "stuff". Sale has 2 PLUS PLUS pitches and his 3rd pitch has developed in to a PLUS. Rodon has one PLUS PLUS pitch, his fastball isn't plus yet, and his change-up needs work. Not saying he can't improve upon them, but he doesn't have the quality arsenal that Sale has. I agree. Saying Rodon has Sale's stuff is slightly insulting to Sale.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 10:04 AM) No. They are using the latest news and the people who support him to make some extra sales for their business. What another awful thing that no one else would do. The only flames being fanned are fathom, LDF and you. Well that's the most innocent spin you could put on it, but whatever. I've said all I can say.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:58 AM) Nah, petty is dragging this out over a long period of time for maximum embarrassment, while pretending to keep your hands clean. Bingo. They could have used any other discount code. Instead they picked one that fans the flames.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:36 AM) Acting all victimized? He made one statement and walked away. You don't like LaRoche the player, so now you are just making things up. He has been one of the most quiet about this entire thing than anyone. Absolutely, acting all victimized. If he had wanted to muzzle his company's Twitter account he would have done so immediately. Instead he was all too happy to play the martyr. Instead of being quiet, he could have put his statement out there right away. I've consistently been among the least harsh on LaRoche the player, chalking his struggles up to the hamate and expecting a reasonable bounceback. There's no special bias from me, but he comes out of this looking like a buffoon, and I'm happy to point that out when he continues to drum this s*** up.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) Why? He should feel ashamed because he's acting all victimized because he can't spend every waking hour with his f***ing kid, while he sat across the locker room from a guy in Abreu who's actually been through something difficult. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) The guy chose his kid over $13 million. That's his choice. He proceeded to make the choice to Twitter snipe while allowing the issue to explode. Not difficult to understand. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) The guy everyone wanted to retire, now is one of the biggest assholes of all time because he retired. Yup, that's it. As usual you've hit the nail right on the head.
-
LaRoche should read Jose Abreu's statement that Quinarvy posted yesterday and feel f***ing ashamed of himself.
-
wtf, does he want his grand retirement tour to last two years?

Donald J. TrumpVerified account @realDonaldTrump Incompetent Hillary, despite the horrible attack in Brussels today, wants borders to be weak and open-and let the Muslims flow in. No way! He's not courting the racist vote though. That's the media taking the things he's said out of context.

Not too worried about Latos as long as he's healthy. When he pitches he'll be a perfectly fine 4th guy.

QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 22, 2016 -> 01:17 PM) Of course......but this type of stuff worked last year, so why stop? This doesn't bother me in the least. It's dumb, but very innocent. And it's also ironic Sox fans would take any issue with this. Apparently, instead of having a mime conduct stretch drills or seeing a magician do magic tricks, the Sox players are conducting a witch hunt to find a snitch, and blasting their team president. Give me the magician. Two behaviors can be different, and still both be stupid.

QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:31 PM) I have a feeling he would thank his fans during his career while not plugging his meat company in his farewell letter. Is that a euphemism?

Who do you believe is MOST guilty in the Laroche situation?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 04:06 PM) I wasn't too entirely upset about things until LaRoche's statement. It seemed like a coincidence of bad assumptions until then. But once the statement was released, it is clear someone is flat out lying, and the organization is being burned down right now. Judging by Sale and LaRoche's statements, it really feels like Kenny is the guy in the wrong here, as both of them are telling the same story, independent of each other. That is a big red flag. At this point, a CLEAR statement of leadership needs to come from this organization, and now I don't think it can just be a private speech and statement released from Jerry. They either have to flat out say that LaRoche is lying, or they need to have Kenny leave. This has gotten out of control, and the organization is a public embarrassment right now. I bet that part isn't true. Can't much argue with the rest. -
Robin's comment was tongue-in-cheek. QUOTE (59th street @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) Fantastic news. LaRoche needs to be gone for good. He has proven to be a totally selfish player and totally unprofessional. Impossible to justify any of his actions; especially when you consider he is a 10+ year veteran and is from a second generation MLB family. He decides to make THIS his "line in the sand" issue? THIS is what he starts a nuclear war over?? I think it's worse. I think he was tired of baseball, he was hurting, he was coming off a bad year, and this was the tipping point. People will remember that he retired because they asked him to bring his kid around less but it was more likely a bunch of factors, most involving him no longer being good at baseball.
