If he has to be added to the 40-man in the offseason, sending him down in Spring Training would burn an option anyway. I don’t know his status there though on if he needs to be added or not.

If they pulled him for a trade, I would think he would have actually been traded. Looks more like a case of the team was up a lot and gave him a few innings off.
