  1. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 11:27 AM) Of course the Cubs questions. Just why? Why wouldn't they come up? His only experience as a manager is for them...
  2. Listening to this press conference, I'm beginning to fully believe they will rebuild. Hahn sounds really confident about making a major move and I doubt that would be us spending a bunch of money to acquire big talent.
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) It's pretty ridiculous that they didnt even interview a single other candidate. It just makes the whole Ventura leak thing even more awkward. This has obviously been the plan for awhile, so why even bother with that dumb ass charade? Yeah doesn't really make any sense. They could have just had a press conference today announcing that Renteria is taking over and Robin and the club decided to part ways as opposed to the whole "sure, we'll take Robin back if he wants to come back" game.
  4. QUOTE (Dunt @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 08:10 AM) The Sox have said once again that there was a depth/talent issue in the wake of Robin's departure, why do these two continue to get a free pass? Don't tell me it's because of loyalty, that's just a lazy explanation. They had a plan and it failed miserably (as most predicted it would), when does Jerry wake the f*** up and realize he needs to cut his losses on these 2? Call it a lazy explanation, but it is what it is. Most on here want one or both gone so many have questions like you do.
  5. QUOTE (MDWhiteSoxFan @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 05:48 PM) Are we sitting at 13th pick as of right now? When do protected picks end? We have 12. And only first 10 protected. Not that I think we would add anyone either way that would cost a draft pick.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 3, 2016 -> 07:53 AM) Yeah, let's see how the Red Sox perform in the playoffs before writing off their desire to add an ace. Here's to hoping they get shelled and knocked out after 3 games. If they win the whole thing (again), they definitely won't trade any core guys.
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Oct 2, 2016 -> 08:03 PM) Those are two nice contracts that allow for them to spend money on hitting. History suggests they stop trying to fill holes with veteran NL talent. With a weak free agent class, who are they going to outbid on?
  8. If they are rebuilding and trade a starter, Shields is fine in a rotation spot. Need somebody to throw at the MLB level without rushing anyone.
  9. Bye Robin. Sorry you were forced into this mess.
  10. So why did people think Kenny is leaving? We are making a change in manager and you don't think we would have a conference for it?
  11. I don't think anyone on here is saying to only change Ventura. As one said, he can be replaced easily. I for one want a scrub down of the front office before this team makes moves and the coaching staff (minus MAYBE Herm Schneider).
  12. QUOTE (Special K @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 01:03 PM) Perhaps this was just a leaked report so that everyone saves face. Sox didn't "fire" Robin and he walks away on good terms. Which is even more embarassing because they don't need to do that and he isn't getting fired. He is a free man after Sunday.
  13. Saw an article about 4 Sox tickets for tonight's game being found on the red line placed on a seat. Perfect representation of the fan's opinion of this news. Rather just give the tickets away than actually use them.
  14. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 07:56 AM) I'd consider it, but I'm in a keeper league and he might be a good low choice for next year's draft. I thought thats why you probably wouldn't do it. That sucks.
  15. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 01:09 AM) Sox still have the 12th pick. Can technically still get the 11th pick if they lose the last 4 and Colorado wins the last 4. But far more realistic is that the Sox could actually end up with the 12th pick if the Sox win 2 more games than the Pirates do in these last 4 games. We are 1 game "ahead" of them for the 11th pick, but we own the tiebreaker, so the Pirates would need to finish with 1 less win. So that makes us technically 1.5 GA of the Pirates for the 12th spot. EDIT: Actually, the Marlins lost today. So the Sox are only 0.5 games up on the Marlins for the 12 pick because the Marlins hold the tie-breaker over the Sox. So the 13th pick is a real possibility, with the 14th pick being possible as well. Ugh. They won't possibly tie. One game was cancelled and likely won't be made up.
  16. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 01:05 AM) I didn't say it was done the "day" between, just between. And "between" is only one day.
  17. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) In my championship week and Ramos goes down. Why doesn't Yahoo turn him from DTD to DL? Probably since Nats don't need to open room on their roster (expanded rosters). Just drop him.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 05:58 PM) Renteria was supposedly great with the young Cubs players Yeah and I know people will argue "he was in the dugout all year" but hes not making strategic in-game decisions for the team as bench coach as the manager would be.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 05:57 PM) I believe that's unfair for pitchers on non-playoff teams. A starter could theoretically go 34-0 but if the rest of the team sucks, he misses the playoffs. That's not his fault. Sale is the closest example to that scenario over the past 5 years. Him pitching even better would not have made us a playoff team. So you don't think those who are torn on say Porcello and Kluber (2 I feel are likely to win) won't look at how each performed in the post season to make a decision? Of course they would.
  20. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) The Cy Young Award is for the regular season. I'm in the group that says post-season should count. Its definitely a variable people consider when voting.
  21. They wanted to announce it Sunday but they didn't want to announce it during the Fernandez news/mourning.
  22. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:31 PM) After these past five years, you do both. Change players and the manager. This. Full organization cleanse.
  23. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:38 PM) As long as relievers are eligible, Britton has had a season that is special where the rest of the starters have been good, not great. I think Britton deserves it. Maybe Sale gets 2nd. Let's talk Sunday night. The season isn't over on Sunday for all the candidates.
  24. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:25 PM) Historically, top-5 Cy's and MVPs are noted as an accomplishment. Why not just hope that he wins it?
  25. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:22 PM) Hopefully Sale can finish 5th. That's about as high as he can finish unless Britton blows a couple saves. Weird thing to hope for.
