  1. You’re right, eventually they would have to extend a star player that is represented by Robert. But I feel like if you could try to extend Colson on a team friendly deal (that buys out a year or two of free agency), maybe next offseason, go for it.
  2. Scott Boras is also his agent so any thought to extend him is already fucked.
  3. Have a feeling they will just pick up someone who gets cut by another team who’s been in camp with a team.
  4. Straw checks all of Getz boxes of strong defender, no bat.
  5. I wanted this dude in 2021. And he would have been a good signing. Better than the ghost of Adam Eaton

Not sure if thread worthy, but today is the first opt out date for veterans on MiLB deals (who qualify) to opt out if they choose. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2024/03/31-veterans-with-opt-out-opportunities-looming-this-week.html For the Sox, the group includes: Jesse Chavez, Brad Keller (doesn’t sound like he will given he was a later sign and recovering from injury, also seems likely to pitch at the MLB for us at some point), Dominic Leone, Mike Moustakas, Kevin Pillar and Bryan Shaw.
  7. Seemed that way based on last year.
  8. Imagine if this was someone like Trevor Bauer instead of Ohtani lol they would use every ounce of resources to get him.
  9. I think he’ll be fine in his opener long-relief role.
  10. Would have maybe offered 1/$6M. Pitch decent and you're traded to a contender mid-season.
  11. That's fair and understandable haha
  12. It was only his second year as a starter so he was probably wearing down at that point.
  13. I miss MLBN on Youtube TV.
  14. There's already a thread that was created 20 mins ago.
  15. Yeah, this isn't like how it was 2 years ago. We play our shitty division less.
  16. This dude owes us a semi-team friendly deal (buying out arb years and at least one year of free agency) if this works out this year. Started his service time in the same year he was drafted and lost a year of control due to missing a whole season.
  17. I would have preferred this over a near MLB ready starting pitcher.
  18. Agreed. Only thing that kind of messes that up is if the game gets PPD to the next day. Then you are playing 13 games in a row with no off days.
  19. Realistically, how many innings can we expect from him this year? @ptatc?
  20. And that was like, 3 innings.
  21. We know Jerry wouldn't do it but teams that are rebuilding and are going to be bad with a lower payroll should take that kind of gamble to have someone to potentially trade at the deadline/offer a QO to next offseason. As of right now, they really don't have much to sell at the deadline. Banking on Fedde pitching well, Soroka staying healthy, and Flexen pitching like he did in in 2021 and 2022. They might be trade chips.
  22. Yeah and have another possible trade chip in the summer. They're going to need big league innings and there is value in that.
