Yeah aim higher. You figure an overpaid one year deal to Lorenzen to avoid a multi-year deal would have to not be that far off of what Montgomery would get for his first year.

It’s not really about Lee, more that they just burned $4M on someone so terrible to play instead. Idc if Lee is in the minors but maybe find a better backup - or starter.

Still wish they would have just paired Stassi up with Lee and split the playing time and saved the $4M on Maldonado who is old and terrible. Or just signed a better backup over Maldonado.

This is the only time I've really felt like something might have traction. I don't really get too invested in thinking it's 100% going down just because we see the teams are talking until I see it is actually happening.

Only way I can see Sheets making the team out of ST, injuries aside, would be they decide he won the LHH RF spot with his bat over Fletcher.

I’m usually ok with this if it means the younger guys are playing every day in the minors. But in this case, you would think Sosa would be able to take away playing time from Lopez or DeJong if he hit well in his limited playing time.

Same. This just seems to confirm it. Although, Fletcher continuing to not hit could make it interesting. (gulps at the thought of Moose making the bench and Sheets platooning in RF to start the year)

You wouldn’t lose one, no. Montgomery was traded last year so didn’t qualify for a QO. As explained above, that’s why I didn’t consider this idea for Snell.

Would you rather see them get creative and sign Montgomery to a similarly structured deal to what Bellinger and Chapman signed to replace Cease to have potentially have a left-handed starter to deal at the deadline? He doesn't cost a draft pick either, not that Lorenzen does, which is why I wouldn't consider this idea with Snell.

Yeah, this would be at least 100 pages less (if not more) if not for them and us responding to them.

Agreed, but the Sox discussing a deal with Lorenzen has to be a good sign. Only thing that really hurts if they trade him now rather mid-summer is my O63.5 wins bet haha
