You’re understanding incorrect. Cubs declined the 3 year option which gave Imanaga a $15M player option for 2026. He didn’t opt out of 3/57M. The Cubs did.
I’d only do it if it means they brought in an every day 1B. As of right now, there’s still at bats available since Vargas and Sosa can play 1B. Kinda think they might as well give Sosa an OF glove though. Feels like the odd man out.
Yeah and the payroll is so low. They should be willing to eat half (if not more honestly) to get the best package available). Hopefully some team is aggressive and thinks he can play to his potential and deals for him in the offseason.
