I think you have to be in the organization before 9/1. So you should see movement on 8/31 where guys are claimed by an organization but not activated until the next day (obviously have to travel and wouldn't be on active roster immediately, unless their travel to their new team was literally walking across the dugout I guess ha) Edit: I thought about this as well. You carry him as the extra 5th bench guy in September and if he plays better than Doyle down the stretch, than it's easy to decide who to leave off for the post-season

No. Looking at the lineup vs lefties is what made me want him back. In nothing more than a platoon OF role

You know, I don't think it's that crazy of a thing to do anymore. If you're grabbing him to be a 4th OF/platoon CF. You just pay him for the last month. Can be your 27th/28th man when rosters expand.

Wouldn't be a bad idea. Not only do you open up an active roster spot for Cannon but you also open a 40-man spot when you want to activate Thorpe.
