  1. Or, just launch Acuna for Monty.
  2. I don’t love our only backup 1B being our starting 3B and needing to shift our great fielding SS over to 3B for a nothing bat. Let one of the OFs pick up a 1B mit since there’s so many of them on the roster.
  3. Maybe it’s not that serious and we get lucky and they cut Benintendi
  4. Just checked box score. What happened to Murakami?
  5. Gotta eat and drink outside the park to save money
  6. They ate about 2/3 of his $18M salary in 2022 plus 2 $1.5M buyouts for 23 and 24. Still a decent amount less than what is owed to Benintendi now.
  7. Manager of the Year! (but without the outcome of the last Sox manager who won Manager of the Year)
  8. Yeah I know that. But I'm just saying adding an unexpected $17M to your payroll may have made you more open to moving a $20M Luis Robert than holding onto him until July again. If you have a set budget and an Mune falls into your lap, you have to subtract someone to make additional moves to hit that budget. Really pathetic they had to convince Jerry to spend the $34M on Mune in the first place and crazy that it would really effect the budget that much but this is where we are with our ownership.
  9. I think Mune falling into their lap caused the chain of events. You suddenly add on $17M/year to one guy that you didn't think you were going to spend (pretty close to Robert money), now distribute the Robert money to fill the rest of the roster.
  10. Maybe he can work as an every day utility guy. Cut Beni, DH Gonzo but let him play around the infield to give guys a little rest at the DH spot. Or for a full day off.
  11. Let him keep raking in the minors. Never know, a spot can open with an injury to someone or he plays himself into a trade chip for a starter with control.
  12. A couch potato manager
  13. Some of these AL teams will start pulling away. Let’s grab the central.
  14. I like when the Sox prove me wrong.
  15. Prob not. But he did come to the majors and produce. Edit: picked 2nd round sometime before Keenyn Walker in the supplementary round (Sox didn’t have a first round pick). Sox legend!
  16. You’re not a true fan and a hater!
  17. Idr that but probably would have been fine the first 6-7 years of his career, which is ultimately what you draft for.
  18. It more rainbows around the number. Like Saltalamacchia. And that dude’s name wasn’t even hyphenated.
  19. For some reason that doesn’t feel like a lot. Anyone have data on other catchers?
  20. Red Sox have been making terrible moves the last couple of years (no, I'm not talking about the Crochet one). Edit: was just thinkin about how they dumped the face of their franchise for nothing and all of those guys have now moved on (including adding a prospect to dump Hicks haha). The Kyle Harrison deal is also a big time fumble. Also traded Tibbs for a couple of months of a bad Dustin May.
  21. Phew. With the kids out of the house, the only games that are a lock for me to watch are during the workday so glad I get to see more Nishida.
  22. At minimum, put Peters in CF and re-shuffle the order.
  23. And just for the sake of looking, Acuna is worse against lefties than Benintendi by about .200 OPS. Also reviewing the game log, the guy on the Twins hasn't pitched more than 4 innings (only 4 IP the one time he was a starter/opener) so I guess the splits don't really matter much if he may not pitch more than a couple anyway.
