I'm all for the 3rd spot.
-
Yeah he only announced a released date and the title name like a week ago when he was on The Tonight Show.
-
Colome remains with White Sox, who always had ample interest in him

That anyone who has positive potential Sox news is correct and anyone who has negative Sox news is clearly a troll? -
With....Carlos Zambrano.
-
If the Sox trade minimal for him and he breaks out and is looking at a big payday in 2 years, that isn't exactly a bad thing for a team with a giant hole in RF looking to compete maybe as early as next year.

*Has flashbacks of many Sox teams in the past 10+ years*

Teams are interested in Nova? Trade him!

I'll take it. -

lol true. Edit: they play the Brewers 13 more games, Cardinals 10 more, and Reds 7 between now and the end of the season. -

Yeah literally trade him for anything. I know we need someone to cover innings but literally just call up Santiago or claim any starter that gets DFA'd or released. -
Dude, there's like one guy saying Lopez for Mazara. No one else here wants him for that. Everyone else who wants him is suggesting the bolded part (which the MLBTR story suggests since they sent him down once already but who knows for sure).
-
Their 4th best OF is better than our 3rd best OF (maybe even 2nd if you wanted to play Garcia at 2B more).
-
I'm on board with it because he's 24 (still young enough to put it all together), 2 years of control, left-handed, has some pop, and RF is a hole right now and likely next year. The only other option is to throw money at Ozuna (better suited for LF) or trade prospects if you want a significant upgrade. But it all depends on the price obviously.
-
I understand people look at next year as a competitive year, but I'm still willing gamble on a guy like Mazara. Especially when a name getting kicked around is Puig (although I guess I've tossed around Kole Calhoun as a guy I would want if/when his option is declined by the Angels). If you want a good RF, we would have to trade for one as there is anything in free agency really (I guess Ozuna if you want to throw him a pile of money).
-
They have other options to give at bats to (Calhoun being one of them with more control), he only has 2.5 years of control left, and maybe you could deal him for a pitcher who has struggled with similar control? Change of scenery types of move?
-
He's definitely more interesting (and younger) than Cordell, Tilson, Engel.
-
Didn't see the article but saw this headline on MLBTR and I was coming here to share it: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/07/interest-in-nomar-mazara-reportedly-picking-up.html Makes sense for our hole in RF.

Right. No one is disagreeing with the value of an every day player for close to 7 full years over 3 months of a closer.
-
Maybe they tried? Who really knows. All that matters (for their fans; it's kind of about perspective) is they traded for Chapman and won a World Series breaking a 108-year drought. If this happens to us in 3 years (minus the long drought part), I won't really care what we traded. It's ok to disagree and have different opinions.
-
If they don't trade for Chapman, they don't win with that pen (minus a hiccup or two from him all post-season).
-
The best post in this entire thread.
-
To the argument of "get him to the majors so he can see MLB pitching and improve in the off-season": how is he going to work on anything without seeing MLB pitching in the off-season? He can't exactly work on and adjust without seeing it consistently (learning to lay off MLB caliber sliders and curves low and away for example).

Steve Stone mentioned the Red Sox did something similar with their starters. Brought them along slowly in Spring Training. Obviously, it showed early in the season but there are 162 games for a reason.
