  1. You're acting like they're going to be at the luxury tax amount if they sign a few free agents and pay 3 players about $25 mill. Beyond next year, only Tim Anderson is officially under contract at $7.25 mill in 2021. Edit: forgot the Eloy extension for some reason. And he will be earning $4.333 mill in 2021.
  2. You can also factor Colome and Herrera leaving for free agency after next year, along with Abreu if he only signs a one year deal. They have so much flexibility.
  3. Yeah, I would bet on it not getting that high for 3 first year arb eligible players.
  4. I was saying his "natuaral" position is blocked.
  5. I'm pretty sure I read that they can be called up after 11 days, which would be early April.
  6. I'm only in favor of a McCann extension if it reasonably cheap. Even if the bat regresses, he still works really well with the pitchers behind the plate. It does kind of limit Collins value though unless you give him a new opportunity as the starting 1B next year, with some spot starts behind the plate and getting DH at bats.
  7. I do think Mendick and Yermin should have been up a while ago. Already old for prospects and at-bats are going to be hard to come by going forward (unless there are injuries). Collins should be getting at-bats as well but would probably be hard getting him and Yermin every day at bats in a scenario they are both up.
  8. I mean, I don't disagree with keeping them down. I'm on that side. But I actually believe they believe they will be competitive next year and saying that they won't be is just a bs reason to keep him down. Remember, they did make some bad signings in years they thought they were going to be competitive (granted, they thought the player wasn't going to bad). So while I think they will be aggressive for sure, I can't speak to the quality of who they sign.
  9. Sorry. I meant as in it's just bs as in a reason to keep him down, but they believe the core guys are in place right now and they will add to it to be competitive. Along with Robert and Madrigal early next year.
  10. I call bs. They will be active in free agency.
  11. After lost offseason, it's a fair take.
  12. Believe its still 40 this year. Next yeat is when the roster changes take place (25 to 26 players, 40 to 28 players in September).
  13. Yeah...I was like so you think he can hit 39...but not one more in a season?
  14. Yep. Which is why I made that last comment. Instead they convinced Ventura to take the job he didn't even want.
  15. Please don't put any ideas in Jerry's head. (Re-reads player manager comment) Too late.
  16. Two things have to be certain if he comes back: He has to DH most of the games he plays in and he has to hit 5th most instead of 3/4. Maybe he can hit in those spots before other guys (Robert and Madrigal) come up and shift the lineup around but that's about it.
  17. The player who says "I want to play here the rest of my career. If they don't resign me, I'll resign myself" (or something along those lines) hasn't killed his leverage?
  18. Nope. Not with a very small sample size and not playing for 18 months.
  19. I'd assume anyone already in the majors would be grandfathered in under old rules.
  20. About 4-5 games is fine.
  21. Why "should" he have been?
  22. Some guy named Yoan. Or is it spelled Yone? Ynoa?
  23. I saw someone make a comment on Facebook that Ricky is the weak-link of the rebuild (who really expects him here long-term though?). That honor may very well go to their owner.
  24. Just go year-to-year from here on out.
