Passan: Moncada, Giolito are among players to watch for extensions this winter
So true. I don't think I've ever seen a positive post from him.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
He's not bad , but he's not great. He's still a producing MLB quality hitter. If we plugged his numbers into the DH spot, he would be our best DH in how many years?

8/28 White Sox vs Twins GT
No I'd say its rational.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
My only other issue is signing Grandal to DH. If you're signing someone strictly to DH, you can probably just go with someone else who is cheaper. Or just go with Collins and grab a defensive first backup catcher for the bench and carry 3 catchers (your bench/roster overall is one guy short with teams expanding to 26).

I wouldn't say "awful." He would be a big upgrade at the DH spot compared to the mess we've had lately.

Future White Sox Lineup #GetExcited
I'm not sure I see Betances getting that contract, mainly because he hasn't even taken the mound this year (majors or minors). But I'd definitely want him.

September Call Ups - Who gets the Nod?
Beat me to it. It's going to be interesting next year when guys who are about to be free agents a month later are released at the end of August/early September to make room for more call-ups.

8/27 Games
Yeah hopefully he can improve enough behind the plate to be a primary catcher. That would help insert a lefty bat in the lineup And would help unclog some of the corner infield depth (if Collins had to move to 1B/DH most of the time). Have a feeling him and McCann are going to spend a lot of time together in the offseason.

Minor leaguer Blake Bivens family killed
Wow. This makes me feel sick. Condolences out to him and his family.

September Call Ups - Who gets the Nod?
Yep. Dude went 1-45 in his time in the majors this year and plays bad d. Definitely brutal.
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
I'd hope so: Robert CF Anderson SS Moncada 3B Castellanos RF Jimenez LF Abreu DH/1B Collins 1B/C McCann C/DH Madrigal 2B Maybe too right-handed but just give me the best 9 you can possibly put out. Also don't think right-handers have as extreme of splits as lefties do against lefties.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Right. It was to expand his market from teams who need a 3B to teams that need a 3B or SS. He was going to play whatever position the team that paid him the most told him to play.

September Call Ups - Who gets the Nod?
I kinda feel the same too. I was done with him but there's no one else. It can be his final chance.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
Yeah this is what I remember.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
What is Moncada's preferred position? (this is a serious question because I don't ever remember reading if he had one).

8/26 Games
I always do every player's draft year.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
I get what you're saying, but I would imagine Boras being all over every dollar possible.

Free Agency - How confident are you?
They still have to negotiate the amount of the bonus and his salary every year he is arbitration eligible with Boras.
-
Free Agency - How confident are you?
Yep. Also feel like this is Joe's last season as manager of the Cubs for that reason. Weren't the players outspoken about it last year?

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
Yeah, there's the whole mental side of hitting, human element to the game in certain situations.

Reinsdorf assures Ron that Abreu will always be a White Sox
I came here to say pretty much all of this. Some people perform better in different situations. Being able to drive in runs is important.

8/25- Sox vs Rangers, 1:10, NBCSC
Same here.

Tax day 2020
I'd probably make him a lower offer. If he doesn't take it, yeah non-tender him.

You're acting like they're going to be at the luxury tax amount if they sign a few free agents and pay 3 players about $25 mill. Beyond next year, only Tim Anderson is officially under contract at $7.25 mill in 2021. Edit: forgot the Eloy extension for some reason. And he will be earning $4.333 mill in 2021.
