What options does Renteria have with Yonder Alonso?
Bob Sacamano replied to TBrown54's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wait, your post was actually serious? -
I'm not exactly saying go to the South-side of Chicago haha
-
Very true. I just feel guilty since they are short staffed at the moment.
-
No. He can live somewhere better and send money to help better his family and/or the country like you said. But he doesn't have to be there.

As I said, high price. -

That's also what I thought. At least gives the roster a bit more flexibility. Although, they could send Cordell and his low avg and obp down. I also checked his splits to see if he was hitting lefties. He is not. Granted, I would still prefer him on the roster over Jay and Alonso. -

Helps when you develop young stars like Springer, Altuve, Correa, Bregman. -
White Sox ratings: up 40% on TV and streaming up over 100%

Kind of on-topic question for the cord cutters. I just bought a place and decided I want to pay for only internet. Sling had a deal where if you paid for 3 months of Sling (it was slightly discounted at $115 for both Orange and Blue), you would get an antenna (I think $40 on Amazon and I was going to get one anyway) and an Air TV player (have not touched it yet). Figured it was a good deal to at least try for 90 days. Does anyone who uses Sling notice a split second delay in sound? Like when you see the catcher catch the ball, about a split second later you hear the pop of the mit or crack of the bat. It appears to only be the games on NBC sports. When I watched a game on ESPN the other day, I noticed there was no delay. It's not a huge deal most of the time since I'm usually only half paying attention when I have games on (looking at my phone, talking to whoever is over, making food, etc.). Anyway, I guess another question would be which streaming service do you guys think is best for watching games? -

For sure. Just thinking more about defense too as there were concerns about an outfield of Eloy and Ozuna in the corners. Personally, I would prefer to spend money over trading anyone myself. Edit: I like the Conforto idea that was kicked around but the Mets are a game under .500 and 6 out as of right now. Plus I don't think we could get Conforto for just depth. I think a team would definitely beat a "depth" offer. -

Are there any possible bats we can target with our depth? We have a lot of depth in the OF. Any package we can do where we trade 2 of them plus something else for a corner bat? Looking at the current standings, could that be from the Pirates, Padres (they're willing to trade anyone outside of Tatis, Machado, Hosmer apparently), Reds, Marlins, Mariners, Jays? -
I was thinking about going to a Sox Cubs game next week (friends I don't see often live in Wrigleyville so I can kill 2 birds with one stone, plus they are Sox fans ha) so I'm in the same boat.

So I applied for a property accounting job with this real estate investment company 2 days ago. One of my friends from my prior job works there and told me about all of the great perks and benefits. I received an email yesterday saying that they wanted to do a phone interview this morning. I didn't see it since I was in a meeting. I received another email just as I was responding to that email saying that the controller is out next week so they want me to do the interview today. That seems like that would be a good sign right? I have experience in property accounting from my previous job so they must have saw something that they like on my resume. I feel kind of bad because my current company (which I started at last July) just finished transitioning this inter-company (the accountants and finance people of the board will know) process over to me over the past couple of months. But truth be told, the company is not great and they undervalue their employees greatly. My department has also lost 3 people over the last 3 months and a lot of departments are being transitioned oversea. Should I just stop worrying about what's best for the company and only consider what's best for me? I've always had this struggle when it comes to my jobs.

Bob Sacamano replied to TBrown54's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Madrigal and Robert I would think would be next year (Madrigal for sure, Robert maybe this year though I prefer mid-April next year). Collins, Cease and even Mendick (play him at 2B) ASAP please. -

It would be awesome to sell high so it really depends on what other teams are offering. He's been so value with Giolito so I tend to lean towards keeping him. Even his bad regresses his work behind the plate is just as/more important. I do believe you sell high on Colome though. Has to be for a high price. -

Yeah Collins needs to be getting at bats between 1B, DH, and catching a couple games a week (with 3 catchers on the roster, you can give McCann rest at DH when Collins starts behind the plate) while also working on becoming a better defender on the side working with McCann and Castillo (hey, he's been around for a while so he should be someone he can go to for advice). -
Nick Madrigal promoted to Birmingham
Bob Sacamano replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in FutureSox Board
If Madrigal and Robert hit their ceilings, I think I would hit Moncada 3. The team needs some left handed pop toward the middle of the lineup. Yeah, I get that you want your best hitters at the very top (1-2 spots) to give them the most at bats but you're literally talking one spot down in the order at number 3 behind guys who can get on-base often (again, if they hit their ceilings). A 1-6 of Robert, Madrigal, Moncada, Jimenez, Vaughn, Collins looks pretty good to me. -
Someone who's earned about $86 million in their career already? Baseball isn't the most important thing in all of their lives. Especially at 38 years old with a family. They're regular people too. Not too different than the guys who just retire leaving money on the table (was it Gil Meche who retired before the season started even though he wasn't going to be playing anyway due to being injured?). And it seems like there is optimism he will return this season.
-
That's what I said too. He's got the money. No reason to really go back there (yeah yeah I get he has family there, but he's worth a lot and that puts a big target on his back in a country like that).

Yep.

Anyone else not see Kopech starting out in the minors next year? I would think the MLBPA would get involved thinking that it is service time manipulation. -
He's just saying we have the wrong one. Not literal like we had a choice and they chose incorrectly.
-
Damn. Was hoping he would be someone who would get a look this year.
-
When will Luis Robert be promoted again?
Bob Sacamano replied to KnightsOnMintSt's topic in FutureSox Board
I think this upcoming period. But there's stricter restrictions on spending on the amateur free agents than when they signed Robert. -

Bob Sacamano replied to Sockin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well Abreu is only signed through the rest of the year. If they did want to extend him but wanted to give him a chance to play for a contender for the first time in his career, it wouldn't be a bad idea to deal him and re-sign him. Same thing as re-signing him. -

Yeah, I found it mind-boggling as well.
