Chris Sale nearing extension with Boston
Should any bonehead decision this front-office makes really surprise us?

Goldschmidt getting 5/110 extension
I was literally going off of his comments a few weeks back. Didn't know it would be that quick.

Jake Burger taking grounders
Ok so I'm not going crazy. Watching that video and seeing those pics of him in college, it looks to me like he has gotten bigger.

Goldschmidt getting 5/110 extension
Yep. And Sale's comments about signing an extension with the BoSox seemed optimistic.

Thoughts on the Sox shifting Moncada to 3b?
I would prefer to play Rondon over Yolmer but yeah, it makes sense to showcase Yolmer. A team with a shot of contending may need a decent 2B mid-season. Also worth mentioning that he only has 2 more years of control left after this year.

2019 MLB draft thread
If they'er in the position where Adley and Abrams are off the board, I'd go with Witt. But my gut says they would take Vaughn.

What record would this team have in AL? Names!!!
Puke.

Giolito/Cease
I'll give it to you and say it's a very small factor. Draft pick or not, no other teams were shelling out the money. And he wanted the long term deal, hence, not accepting a 3/4 year 40 mill deal from Dodgers. Or Giants was it?

Giolito/Cease
If you don't sign Machado because you're worried about your second pick in the draft (whatever the Padres would have surrendered), you should be fired.
-
Giolito/Cease
Total dollar amount was still $30 million more than Machado. I think they just made the deal as long as it was to keep the AAV lower for luxury tax purposes going forward. I don't think there's much factor here in the draft pick compensation.

3/21 vs Rangers, 3pm, whitesox.com
I agree.
-
Giolito/Cease
I don't think it did at all to be honest. There just weren't enough teams willing to shell out over $300 million due to budget constraints.

Guess the Opening Day 25 Man
Looking at his Spring Training stats, we should be able to sign him within 5 days. Edit: just read that he was sent to minor league camp yesterday.

Guess the Opening Day 25 Man
He signed a minor league deal. He doesn't have to go on the DL since he's not on the roster.

Will Nick "The Little Magician" Madrigal be called up this year?
I don't expect him to get called up this year but I honestly would not be surprised if he was.
-
Roster Cuts Thread
I believe Kopech was placed on the 60-day DL so he shouldn't count.
-
Giolito/Cease
Which could mean sooner as Kopech was going to come up earlier than when he ended up arriving.
-
Giolito/Cease
I'm confused on this part. How would that ensure we would keep him here long term when he was always going to test free agency?

Eloy officially got paid
You think he will sustain it? I don't.
-
Eloy officially got paid
Yeah. Let's be honest. What will be worth more at the deadline: a light-hitting catcher who can't catch or a back-end reliever with success in the closer's role?

Red Line Radio Hahn Interview
Because caulfield. He just needed to add another name to meet quota.
-
Eloy officially got paid
Didn't Hahn sort of hint that they won't go past a certain age with free agents? I almost feel like you can cross JDM off the list.
-
Eloy officially got paid
100%. A move where they potentially save a lot of money does not make up for being cheap asses on a young star. Dammit, now I'm starting to re-open my scar on the topic haha

Eloy officially got paid
Yes.
