  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 06:01 PM) Related to the mystery Sox Brewers trade talk? They either couldn't reach a deal with Hahn or it could be a three way deal. They meaning who? I feel like Sox talking with Brewers is being way overblown here.
  2. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 10:24 AM) A - Swarzak B - He definitely does not C - Scahill will sit in the minors for the majority of the year and be depth for the White Sox. He'll probably be up 1-2 months all year and give you 15-20 innings total. D - I went to high school with him and played with him - he's not capable of being a guy who is flipped for any type of prospect 5 months from now. Youre talking about a guy who walked 4 per 9 and struck out 4 per 9. What's the relevance in this comment when talking about how he is now or if he can toss a career year?
  3. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 23, 2018 -> 10:23 AM) For $6 million. Total. That's nothing and IMO bascially negates the fact that's a two year deal. Yeah I was going to say he'll be fine on their bench once Duggar comes up. I still think it's possible he ends up platooning to start the year anyway.
  4. It's only lame for the fans of the teams that aren't winning.
  5. Austin Jackson signed with the Giants. Could still see them grab Dyson and platoon the 2 with the other coming off the bench for Pence late in games to pinch run and for defense.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 12:38 PM) Two guys invited last year, but not this year- Courtney Hawkins and Spencer Adams. Adams not invited is interesting. I've honestly forgotten about this guy.
  7. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 11:54 AM) Are Burr and Viera invited? Vieira is on the roster so yes. Burr isn't on the 40 and not listed on this list so probably not.
  8. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 10:40 AM) Was hoping to see Stephens or Guerrero grab the 5th spot until Rodon is healthy, but with the Gonzalez signing, I don't think we'll see that. Unless they want to send Fulmer back to AAA. Yeah it's possible. He should have to compete for the spot. Whoever pitches better in spring, bring them North.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 09:53 AM) I think he should just wait until he has the actual teams and players. You can't really single him out. All reporters should wait then.
  10. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 08:48 AM) I guess maybe the Giants would give him league minimum and a real shot to start? Easily. And I would expect others to be interested as well. He isn't a bad player. Just way overpaid.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 08:35 AM) If he was playing for a contract, maybe I could buy that -- but he's locked up through 2021 on what is obviously the biggest contract of his career. I would think he's likely more interested in championships than an extra 200 ABs, especially because it isn't like he has an insignificant role with the Yankees. He's won already in his career so no much pressure to win before retiring. He's getting paid either way and may want playing time or a chance at another winner (granted, he could go to a team expected to contend anyway).
  12. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 01:13 AM) My random speculation is a prospect swap of Brinson for Hansen + Fulmer. Or maybe Cease, Fulmer, and Mendick, or some variation of us getting Brinson in exchange for pitching prospects. I'd be interested in something like that. But you don't really see those types a moves.
  13. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 08:21 PM) Highly doubt they would need to trade Brinson just to dump salary. Whatever our part in this I’m going to guess it’s a lot less sexy and minor. And FWIW is take a flyer on Broxton. His 2016 was good. Rather give his power a try then whatever Tilson would be. Entirely possible we have zero involvement. We were in discussions but who knows the final outcome.
  14. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 08:52 PM) Ellsbury would never waive his clause with a demand to be released with the way the market has been this offseason. He's be lucky to field anything other than a ST invite. A team would easily offer him an MLB deal at league minimum.
  15. QUOTE (frogsplash31 @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 07:55 PM) Can't see Ellsbury waiving his no trade clause. If he wants to play every day he will.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 06:51 PM) Domingo Santana would be great, he had a great season last year and is controlled through 2022. We'd have to be trading some of arms for that to happen.
  17. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 05:56 PM) And that's what they have, no? Braun/Brinson/Santana with Phillips as well, as they do need 4. Well the high upside kids you probably just have every day at bats in the minors with someone else brough into be a bench player. But they don't need another starting OF (unless they deal one for pitching).
  18. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2018 -> 05:41 PM) Avi. They really don't have a glut of outfielders like their fans claim. All I see are Braun, Brinson, Santana, Phillips, and Broxton (who isn't really an MLB caliber OF). If 4 outfielders is a glut, then I guess every team has a glut. I could see something involving Avi with us taking Phillips back, or perhaps even taking Braun's contract off their hands for additional prospects. Those first few sentences seem to contradict each other. You name 3 starting OF and a couple recent/current top prospects and that's not considered a glut? A team only needs 3 starters and a backup.
  19. Yeah the Brewers don't need any more OF.
  20. I don't want them dealing anyone yet. Could always deal next off-season after securing a big free agent to add to the mix. May not be Yelich but someone else can be available.
  21. QUOTE (35thstreetswarm @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 03:41 PM) Another risk that comes with the sleeveless is that fans buy them, too. Ever sit next to a fat guy in the sleeveless jersey with his pit-hair blazing on a hot August day in the early 2000s ? Not pretty Uh people don't wear sleeveless shirts already at games?
  22. QUOTE (Wanne @ Jan 20, 2018 -> 12:58 PM) As a player...sleeveless are incredibly comfortable too (besides looking great). This. Loved wearing sleeveless on the team I played on.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 03:04 PM) I found it: My apologies, he clearly didn't say the opposite. At the same time, I feel like this was more directed towards the Gonzalez Germen type of moves, but it's anyone's guess. Yeah sounds more like dumpster diving type moves.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 19, 2018 -> 11:39 AM) I miss John Rooney He was awesome.
  25. Beyond SHOCKED no one wanted him...
