  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 12:07 PM) Jon Morosi‏Verified account @jonmorosi 2h2 hours ago Source: #SFGiants and #Pirates have had recent Andrew McCutchen trade conversations. Story here: https://www.mlb.com/news/giants-seek-andrew-mccutchen-outfield-help/c-264252764 …://https://www.mlb.com/news/giants-see...p/c-264252764 …://https://www.mlb.com/news/giants-see...p/c-264252764 … @MLBNetwork @MLB If a deal came together, I would imagine a deal centered around Frazier and Cole would come together pretty quickly.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 12:02 PM) Maybe there's minimal interest because he's not a great ballplayer... How many teams need a 3B? Edit: make that "team expected to compete"
  3. I guess the thought would be that there is minimal interest right now and that a team could buy-low on him instead of competing with teams next off-season for bigger guns (Harper/Machado).
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 11:56 AM) Honestly, I think that would have been dumber. But it's fair competition. Yeah I don't see how this (signing Mous) would be dumber than trading Giolito for a one year rental lol
  5. QUOTE (Brian @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 10:53 AM) Yikes. I call whenever my bill goes up and make changes. Sometimes cut some stuff out. Roku has an xfinity app so I got rid of the box in my room which was $10 a month. Cut HBO cuz I get it for free with my ATT cell. I pay $140 a months with Showtime/Starz and sports package (Red Zone and Tennis channels, etc). Internet is 100 mbps or whatever. May cut Showtime when Shameless ends. I currently have a Hulu account and what I am currently doing to watch Shameless is pay the extra monthly fee to get Showtime (watching some other stuff now as well to make it worth it). It's really easy to go back and forth on your account so once Shameless is over and my friends/family who currently watch the show on my account are done, I plan on getting rid of Showtime on my account (may potentially freeze my Hulu account for a month or two as well).
  6. QUOTE (Moncada @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 03:42 PM) Overview/Rules will be posted shortly, stay tuned You have someone listed twice on the first post.
  7. Looking at the free agent list now, it's amazing how many guys have not signed yet.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2018 -> 03:01 PM) A second round pick and $500k of international money of which you can't go over $300k anyway? Please. At some point, you are going to have to add vets. Now may be the time to get him. I don't know. But if you think 2019 is the year the window can open, it's time to consider something like this, especially since the 3B market seems to be saturated and it could keep his cost down. The Sox could use some LH power. If it's 2020 you are shooting for, then holding off sounds reasonable. The price is key, and I would figure if it's a steep discount, he's going back to KC. This is what KC should be looking into instead of Hosmer. It may not be easy to find someone to replicate Hosmer's numbers at 1B from last year but that was a career year for him anyway.
  9. The Royals really should be rebuilding. Unless they think they can get bargains to replace the guys they are losing.
  10. Question for everyone: if they stopped doing the National Anthem before sporting events, would you care? And why or why not?
  11. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 30, 2017 -> 11:39 AM) So you're saying he's adapted to the American way of life quickly? He sounds like most annoying Millenials!
  12. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 02:34 PM) Chapman had his charges dropped and still was punished by MLB Probably more of the third hand part.
  13. Can we all agree that despite it being a religious holiday, that Christmas really isn't a religious holiday? I know plenty of Atheist/religion bashers/non-religious people that love Christmas and go all out celebrating.
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) If you go by WAR in 2006 Thome 4.8 Brian Anderson 0.0 Mackowiak 0.4 Rowand 1.2 Big Hurt 2.4 seems a net plus to me as well. Had to go back and look at Mackowiak's numbers after seeing he was positive WAR. Too bad he wasn't a corner bat or bench player.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 11:15 AM) Worth adding that one of the reasons Rowand had a down 2006 was that he broke his face slamming into a fence. That will usually do it.
  16. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) What a boring offseason. Yeah I figured we would have seen more action in December but man there was almost nothing outside of any (pre-)Winter Meetings action.
  17. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) He was past his prime when the White Sox got him, and sending Rowand to get him was an overpay and IMO part of the reason the 2006 team didn't make the playoffs (CF was brutally bad for that team). The Sox were very fortunate that Thome's age 35-37 seasons were as productive as they were. They really could have just held onto Rowand and gambled on Thomas being healthy (they were gambling on Thome being healthy anyway).
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) Good luck with that. That's less than he was projected to get. Still makes no sense for that team unless they think they are going to be competitive in like the 3rd/4th year and beyond in that deal.
  19. Finally got around to seeing War for the Planet of the Apes. It was an awesome movie. Can't wait for the next one.
  20. QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) They have won 3 titles. I'd say they're doing all right 3 in the past 7 years. I can never compare them to the Cubs.
  21. It kinda depends if they move Garcia and decide to bring in someone to start in CF that they can potentially flip (Carlos Gomez maybe?). Otherwise, the at bats would be minimal.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) Yep, because the White Sox competitive window, which could be estimated to be between 2019 and 2025, line up almost perfectly with Machado's prime years. You either pay $300 million over 6 years, or you pay $300 million over 10 years, but you're still going to be spending $300 million. Why not lengthen the contract and spread his salary hit out rather than assuming a $50 million pricetag for 6 years? My comment was mostly a joke. Although I actually don't think Longoria is overpaid.
  23. I don't really want to trade any of our prospects yet. Let's revisit this in a year if he is still with Miami.
  24. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Dec 22, 2017 -> 04:46 PM) I recall reading the day they got him the Mets immediately placed a call asking about Castro. That doesn't mean they're trying to trade him.
