  1. QUOTE (Lillian @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 09:18 AM) One way to look at it is that the Draft could be divided into 4 categories: Best H. S. pitcher, best H.S. position player and the same for the Top College prospects. So, even picking 4TH, you have the best of one of those categories, at a minimum. That should console those who are so disappointed that the Sox Draft position is slipping. Moreover, there is no consensus #1, 2 or 3. Hey, those who want Beer may get your wish. He could be a reasonable pick at around $5. I saw a mock draft from August that projected us to pick him at #2. I don't think I ever saw that posted here. I can't see him going top 5 unless he has another monster year. Source: http://www.mymlbdraft.com/MLB-Mock-Draft
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) Anyone that asks for the banner to be changed will be banned! Even if I don't have the power to do that.
  3. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 08:59 AM) 100% agree. 4 years/$75M sounds about right to me. 2019 to 2021 should all be competitive years and I think he'll remain an elite bat during that period, even if he ends up at DH ultimately. I don't think there's much of a market for either Garcia or Abreu but I would prefer extending Abreu personally due to the fact he has a longer track record. Garcia, I think they try to deal him this off-season but ultimately hold onto him playing the wait and see game until July when they either decide to trade him or extend him.
  4. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 12:22 AM) One of the rare celebrities I'd give my left nut to have his life. x10000
  5. QUOTE (Soha @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 07:32 AM) That's good news. At this point, just hold on to the #4 pick please. Sucks that it looks like the Tigers are going to get #1. Dammit. And this was a year where they were going for it. Reminds me of our 13 Sox how we ended up with a third pick.
  6. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 28, 2017 -> 05:48 AM) Absolutely ecstatic for Jose Quintana. One of my personal favorite players ever. That guy deserves to pitch in the postseason. With that being said, I hope he and his team get bounced round 1. I hope they go 1-3 and lose first round with Q pitching a great game.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 02:20 PM) If we are going to change, I nominate the true heroes of this franchise's history - Chris Widger and Timo Perez. Where are those guys?
  8. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 01:44 PM) What abouuut Rick Hahn? After his great projected rebuild he deserves a banner for a little bit! Sure he works too haha
  9. Can we change this banner? lol Moncada, Giolito, Jimenez, Lopez, Bruce Banner, I don't care just change it lol
  10. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) Why not Delmonico? Davidson, Engel and Narvaez I certainly agree with Yeah I probably could have left him off. Really depends on how the outfield shakes up along with the DH spot when it's all said and done.
  11. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 11:50 AM) In what year do you think we see our next good team? I'm going to be cautious and say 2020. With the way the division is shaping up maybe 2019. I don't expect the likes of Davidson, Delmonico, Engel, Narvaez to be playing big roles at that point.
  12. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) The pieces that will be here haven't proven they can take walks. Tim Anderson is one of the only ones we know WILL be here, and he's arguably the worst at it. In all fairness, you're talking about like 2 guys in the long-run who are currently here who will likely be starters on our next good team.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 10:14 AM) I saw yesterday that back-ordered cards will be mailed out Oct 1. Ugh. I ordered Sept 11. They should've been more prepared. I think you still need the card, even with the e-ticketing thing, but I could be wrong. Where did you read that?
  14. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 27, 2017 -> 08:04 AM) Yea I'm not sure why they had Shields give up on the Stinkball. It was working beautifully. If they can spin Shields into something decent in say June (maybe Sox eat most of the remaining deal) due to him reinventing himself, that would be incredible. Who knows maybe we will see Shields in a package deal with another Swarzak-like signing to a team looking to improve the back-end of the rotation and bullpen.
  15. Here is what the email said: "We've been pretty busy, since the launch of our new $9.95 subscription plan. Between fixing app/website crashes due to heavy traffic and responding to an influx of emails, we've experienced delays in replying to some of your questions. Recently, we sent an email with links to our theater map, FAQ's, and information regarding card arrival. Though our processing facility has increased production, there is currently a 2-3 week delay in card delivery. We greatly appreciate your patience as we work to process your requests. Please note that your first month of service will not begin until your card arrives. In the meantime, you can visit our website, moviepass.com, for a list of supported theaters in your area.Though several unauthorized sites were created to provide a list of supported theaters, only moviepass.com can provide accurate results. While waiting for your card to arrive, feel free to visit supported e-ticketing theaters in your area. The MoviePass app will identify these locations with a red ticket symbol next to the theater name. Supported chains include Goodrich Quality Theaters, Studio Movie Grill, and MJR Theatres." I didn't realize the bold before. Does that mean I can actually use it even though I don't have the card?
  16. So we have Lopez (could have a clunker but I hope not) and Covey (yuck) the next 2 days and then Fulmer and Volstad on Saturday and Sunday (both could get ugly). Who is pitching on Friday, Holmberg?
  17. Still haven't recieved my movie pass yet. Emails over the past couple weeks say its backed up. I signed up about 4 weeks ago.
  18. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 26, 2017 -> 11:58 AM) 2020 Sox are going to have a log jam at 1B/DH if we keep drafting guys who can't play any defense Seems that way.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2017 -> 10:04 AM) If you throw out his 3 start April, this is by far his best month of the season. He really looks like Jake Peavy all of the sudden. Hopefully he doesn't end up with the arm surgery too. Hopefully he can throw this way for 2-3 months and have some trade value.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 26, 2017 -> 08:03 AM) He does seem to have settled in on an arm angle over his last few starts. September has been an OK month for him. If we actually got this Shields going forward he could be a tradeable asset with the Sox assuming some salary. 32 IP, 11 BB, 30K 3.94 ERA, 27H, 1.1875 WHIP Saw a quote from Trout that said it's a different James Shields. One with more movement on his pitches.
  21. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 02:36 PM) Adam Dunn did it 4 years in a row and 6 out of 7. Then he switched leagues and hit for 11 HR and 42 RBI. Yeah I didn't bother searching him because he was only with us 4 years and I knew the one year was awful already disqualifying himself haha.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 02:22 PM) He left the White Sox but Carlos Lee did it for 5 straight years, and was one RBI away from making it 7 years. Yeah I saw that. The first and only 3 I looked at were Paulie, Maggs and Lee.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 02:06 PM) There aren't a lot of non HOF players that have hit 25 homers and have driven in 100 four consecutives years anyway. Joe Carter is one off my head I'm pretty sure did it. Has any White Sox other than Frank Thomas done it? I'm guessing no. Just for the fun of it, I checked out some names. Paulie was a no, Magglio is a yes from 1999-2002 and was one RBI away in 03 from 5 years in a row.
  24. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 01:55 PM) I mean Dick asked for an explanation and he gave it. Most foreign guys are not coming over in their prime. Yes, that is true but my comment still stands.
