  1. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) Psshhhhh, I start this thread for about 4 years in a row, then this year someone gets the jump on me and wins the coveted title. SUCH DISRESPECT! And I'm pretty sure I'm the guy who provides the link to the reverse standings in those said threads haha
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 25, 2017 -> 01:17 AM) This hasn't been formally said yet - so let me go ahead and throw it out there... I hereby nominate and award this thread as "Soxtalk 2017 Thread of the Year". I feel so honored
  3. Why are people so butthurt about the Astros? I'm excited about Jimenez. We should be thanking them. Sure they could have put together a betterpackage based on the third and fourth pieces but based on what we ended up getting, that doesn't really matter. I'd rather see the Astros win than Red Sox and Yankees and 2 ALC teams personally

  5. If someone blows you away with an offer because they believe this is what Avi is now, you take it and run. If not, hang on to him and hope he keeps it up to even be worth the discussion mid-season.
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 12:16 PM) Did you not read the other posts? His BABIP is out of whack and his power numbrers stink and his RBI totals aren't ungodly. He has little to no trade value. We can't have it both ways, folks. We say the red flags are there and he's basically not very good and why would any team want that??? So you want to acquire a couple hack middle relievers for him? Fine I guess. Or some low level outfielder who will never make it big either? Literally no one has ever said this other than you.
  7. QUOTE (hi8is @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 01:06 AM) Perhaps you'll mature a bit after a little "vacation".q Insults aside, you're preaching to the choir here man... flavum and I have been two of the biggest advocates for losses so far this season... but by all means, keep coming up with those heroic insults. You're hysterical. Kisses... What was said lol PM me. Edit: just looking at your response to his initial post, it was a fair assessment. I don't know why he would turn to insults.
  8. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 08:21 PM) I'm actually really interested to see how they approach this offseason. I could understand either way. Either still stay young and sign projects, or maybe make a multi year signing for a guy that makes sense now and in the future. Just out of curiosity, but who do you think that guy is this off-season?
  9. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 10:09 PM) well, rick hahn disagrees. As well as Nick Hostetler.
  10. Jason Martinez of Roster Resource was chatting on MLBTR last night and mentioned the Phillies only have $7 million guaranteed for next year's roster with very few guys in arbitration. That is impressive. I would expect them to add a big free agent this off-season or next.
  11. QUOTE (Jimmy3Putt @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 05:55 AM) Not sure how he kept that laser last night fair, but it was sweet. Hit so hard it didn't have time to hook haha
  12. According to Alderson, they aren't giving up on Harvey.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 03:57 PM) Just a preference, not a prediction. Honestly, in either league, seeds 1-4 are worthy. If the LCSs have Red Sox, Yankees, and Cubs, I'm out. I would hate Red Sox/Yankees and Cubs/Dodgers...barf
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 02:00 PM) Twins suck in NY no matter the roster. Can we just skip to Astros-Indians and Nationals-Dodgers and send everyone else home? I'm anticipating another choke by the Dodgers honestly. And Nats need to get Harper ready. Would honestly suck to watch the Cubs play them without him.
  15. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 01:58 PM) They are converting Robert to a C? I thought that was the TA plan Haha
  16. Too many young guys need at bats. Really depends on if they move Garcia and/or Abreu this off-season and they wanted a cheap veteran on a 1-year deal. I would bet he signs with a contender though for cheap and to DH/see little time in LF.
  17. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) Though we're tied in the win column with the Phillies (though it's really 1 back because we can't tie them) and 1 back from the Giants. Yeah good point. We do have to finish ahead.
  18. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 12:11 PM) You forgot to bold Luis Robert's name as possibly raking through three levels. Haha true. I was just referring to the skepticism that he will stick at catcher.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:49 AM) Yeah this is true. When he gets to 3 balls, maybe he goes for locations he knows he can hit. But may leave him tendencies that hitters exploit. Overall, if you'd have told me that this is how giolito would look in the bigs after his April, I'd have obviously been very happy. Hell, after most of the season lol
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) So how many games back are we from the #1 & #2 picks now? I just checked the standings in the very first post (link to the site). Looks like half a game from second and 2 from 1st.
  21. QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 07:28 AM) I'll say this, both Phillies and Giants are hustling and playing hard. I'm not saying that they are very good, but they are competing. The Phillies have young guys on the roster that want to stay in the majors.
  22. QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) Surprised that there is no Joey Gallo reference. Yeah I'm shocked too. Or even God, I mean Kyle Schwarber.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) If the White Sox give more than a 2 year deal to any reliever this year, I give them an F. A 2 year deal I understand. A 3 year deal is bad. Maybe it's the 4.50 ERA he's running that lets me think the Diamondbacks will look elsewhere next year. I think Matt Harvey is a perfect candidate for the Sox. He may receive a fairly sizeable AAV, but I see him signing a 1 year deal. Maybe 1 year, $15 million. I think people are referring to us trading for him this off-season (buying low). An mlbtr article (or maybe it was a chat) said that he likely won't get much of a raise in arbitration. And he only has 1 year left of control. Depending on what the Mets want to do (rebuild/reset/retool or go for it) next year, he could be available.
  24. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 11:01 AM) As good as fulmers numbers have looked, I don't have faith in him. He'll be lucky to be a successful reliever. Id love for him to make me eat crow, but I don't forsee that happening. Yeah I hope his success continues.
  25. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 20, 2017 -> 10:13 AM) He's a better looking Adam Dunn who hits less homers and gets hurt more. And draws significantly less walks.
