  1. Orioles have no control about the beyond part and if you're trading the one year of Machado, you're not going to be good anyway for it to matter what team he is on in 2018.
  2. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:46 AM) https://twitter.com/danclarksports/status/941278096354787328 It could work out to where we are essentially trading an arm or two for a bat or two. Something that people seem to think happens but doesn't with prospects.
  3. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:33 AM) I dunno guys. I’m just confused as to why so many of you think it would be such a foregone conclusion to sign this guy cold in FA. I'd rather try at that point than give up anything now for him. Not a foregone conclusion they will resign him.
  4. If they get him, I think they would do what it takes to extend him before the start of the season. I'm nervous about the risk though.
  5. Also didnsome research earlier and saw that Manny has always been open to an extension with the O's but they were just far apart in negotiations. Not like other cases where you hear said player doesn't want to talk extension and intends on going to free agency.
  6. Hypothetical question: whats the most you'd give up with an extension window? 2 arms and Burger (as he wouldn't really be needed)?
  7. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:11 AM) I take this as a good sign that these guys aren’t in the trade. Still don’t see how we have a “leading offer”’without one of Kopech, Giolito, Lopez, Rodon, or Hansen in the mix. So question for Soxtalk, who would you rather give up as the centerpiece in a trade for Machado: Rodon, Lopez, or Hansen? Thats tough but at this point, probably Rodon.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 05:42 AM) According to the Athletic article they can have one of Giolito, Kopech but not both. This is pretty insane if it happens. I really don't know why they believe having him play there willl get him signed , and not lessens their chances. Money talks. If they think he will love,Ricky Renteria so much he will accept a lowball offer, they need to be replaced. If you are going to make,us,sit through a rebuild, follow.theough, and come up with an offer next winter. If they do this and it fails, heads should roll. Agreed with everything here. Not worth the risk.
  9. If they deal for him, they better be ready to open up the check book.
  10. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 02:58 AM) You guys.....I'm so scared. Same. I hate this risk.
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 08:10 PM) An extension for Machado would have to be 7/$200 at a minimum. I would think he'd want more years though. Probably 10 with a few opt-outs.
  12. For him not to go to free agency, they better be willing to pay over $30m a year. There's also value in being the only team that can negotiate a deal with him for a year.
  13. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 08:01 PM) Plenty of scrubs on Twitter saying the Sox are one of five teams who have made a trade offer for Machado. I think they're all reposting some random post. Probably going off the fact that we have inquired.
  14. Is it true the Yankees are trying to include Ellsbury in a deal? Lol
  15. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 05:44 PM) I like this answer....If anyone bothered to give a well thought out answer, would it be read AND comprehended? Haha. The better question is why does he come off like we all disagree with him that it doesn't make sense for us to trade for Machado.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 05:36 PM) I have a serious question nobody has addressed. Why would ANY TEAM, much less our White Sox, trade 3-4 TOP prospects for a one-year rental? There's no chance in hell Machado will sign prior to free agency. Why would he? So rather than flame greg, please answer my question. Nobody has addressed this except me. What player the caliber of Machado has EVER agreed to a long extension with one season to go before free agency. s***, even Cain, Hosmer and Moustakas, who are average to above average players, did not do that and they like Kansas city, a nice, quaint town. Lol
  17. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 05:06 PM) You'd have to guess Cardnails based on White Sox position and the division of the first two teams. A trade within the division wasn't dismissed. That honestly seems like the best scenario for the O's: Red Sox and Yankees bid against each other for him.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 04:28 PM) Cardinals is my prediction for Manny Same as they've been linked to other 3B as well (like Donaldson who is also a rental).
  19. QUOTE (Sleepy Harold @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) Brittany Ghiroli @Britt_Ghiroli 49s #Orioles making “good progress” on Machado trade. More than 5 teams interested at Degrees. Brittany Ghiroli‏Verified account @Britt_Ghiroli 19s19 seconds ago More Duq didn’t dismiss division rival trade. Said they talked to all interested to gauge market. Wouldn't it be crazy if the Yankees grabbed him? Just a one year rental, but still.
  20. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 04:14 PM) 8am Central. Awesome. Right when I show up to work. Thanks.
  21. What time does the Rule 5 draft start?
  22. If the Marlins trade Yelich, I really hope Ichiro is at least brought back as a semi-every day player.
  23. Marlins release Edinson Volquez https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/marl...on-volquez.html
  24. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 03:10 PM) I really don't see why we wouldn't take 2 relief pitchers.. Why not.. If one doesn't work he goes back to the original team.. Not a big deal. There's some talent here and we have 7 open relief pitcher spots lolll Exactly. Plenty of wide open competition. I would actually be shocked if they didn't take 2 players in the MLB portion of the Rule 5 draft.
  25. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 13, 2017 -> 03:04 PM) That would be a very smart plan. All of the NLW ballparks are huge so defense goes a long way. Yeah and Span and Pence were both brutal out there. They need guys who can cover ground in their own ballpark.
