I'm at work right now...anyone have a link so I can listen to the games today?

QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Not sure how to feel about today's game. Watch Jake throw a gem. I could wrong. I will bet you a million dollars Jake doesn't throw a gem today

What do you take from the 2017 season?

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 03:29 AM) The great thing about that is there are about 5-7 other legitimate starter options in the White Sox minor leagues that you don't even have listed. Dunning, Cease, Clarkin, Adams, Fulmer, Guerrero, Stephens all have starter potential as well, and I think I may even be missing some on that list. Yep...some will succeed as starters, some will succeed in the bullpen, some won't succeed in either role and if you have a lot of them succeed, you can trade from quantity. -
QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Oct 8, 2017 -> 09:55 PM) What does a pitching win tell you about anything? Well, considering at least one pitcher records a win every game, I would say it tells you a team won the game. That's my smartass answer to your comment anyway.

Shohei Otani is likely coming to the USA

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 04:33 PM) I haven't read the stories. Can somebody summarize this for us? Sox have little to no chance of signing this guy because "............." I am 'assuming' it's cause we just spent all that dough on Robert and aren't allowed to bid much and we can't even compete in the ballpark $$ wise. Is that correct? If this is the case ... wouldn't it have been smarter to go for this guy instead of Robert? Isn't this guy pretty much a can't miss pitching/hitting star? Going for Robert made more sense with teams limited to spend in that period. -
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) Thanks. I'm surely rooting for them to dismantle the Cubs but after that I'd much rather see either NL West opponent represent in the big dance. Well, on second thought - I suppose I'd rather see the Nats than the Diamondbacks. I hate the Dodgers for the same reason I don't like the Red Sox and Yankees minus the actual winning of titles lol
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:38 PM) What's with the Nats love on this board? I'm honestly ok with the D-Backs or Nats on the NL side.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 03:34 PM) Was Swarzak signed to a minor or major league deal? I forget off the top of my head. He's what I had in mind when I said sign a few guys. I think minor league. Random note, but Kevin Siegrist was released the other day. They should gamble on him on a minor league deal.

QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 02:51 PM) Not that I disagree with you but I think May goes before Hanson. Yeah more thank likely.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 01:25 PM) One thing to keep in mind if you are going to go on back to back days, pick the earlier film first. There is a one a day, but also a 24 hour waiting period. That's what you had mentioned before. Thanks for the heads up.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 10:30 AM) He's a great pitcher who had a bad game. Anything other than that is a pure meatball. Yep.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 10:09 AM) I love me some Chris Sale. His antics may have been a bit annoying, but he loved playing on the south side and seemed like a very loyal teammate. I will never root against him to justify the trade we made. Me neither but due to the team he is on, it's similar to Q for me where I want him to do well personally but want a first round exit from the Red Sox.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:54 AM) Probably but hanson stayed largely due to being able to play all 3 OF position. It made it easier to keep him since he I think played all positions except 1b/C at least once. And Peter can play those same positions (minus maybe CF, which Leury or Engel can play...whoever is on the bench).
-
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:40 AM) I don't think he's a scared pansy at all. I think he was overworked, and his emotions (anger) got the better of him. We've seen the emotions with him, on and off the field. Hopefully he'll get a chance to pitch again this year. I don't understand why people even think this way. "He's scared" "he doesn't have balls", etc. I don't think players are scared of pitching/playing in the playoffs. A young player may have nerves and he may jittery but thats not being scared. Maybe the guy's arm is tired. He is also going against a great offense.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) Those same guys are all back next year. It also leaves out Hansen and Saladino who are still ahead of everyone else. Hansen is easily a dude who can and I think will get cut when the time presents itself.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 6, 2017 -> 09:17 AM) I'm rooting for jake peter because he's kept producing, but last offseason I thought Peter was our preferred upcoming utility man. Out of spring training they sent him to AA after being in AAA the year before. He hit his way out and was smoking AAA...they didn't call him up in Sept. SS2k5 is right, there is something there the sox aren't that interested in. There really weren't at bats to go around either in the infield. Anderson shortstop, Moncada 2B, Yolmer, a good amount of at bats at 3B.

FINALLY received my moviepass card in the mail.
-
QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 10:00 PM) So - uh - is it really possible that he's deemed an unrestricted free agent? I'd seriously cream my pants if we picked him up for just cash. Jebus!!! I don't think he will be.
-
QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) He could easily turn this into a good performance still. Yeah there were some games here he would give up a couple first innings runs and then give no more over another 6 innings.
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) Yeah, I forgot about that. Or, I did a good job of erasing the image from my mind. Just as I have done a good job of erasing ALR's brief time with the White Sox lol
-
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) I did not know the Sox had done that with LaRoche. I just figured that was the length he liked. It's a stupid rule, they are ball players not business exec's. ALR's beard was much bushier before he came over.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:30 PM) That is actually a great example of why they don't do it. It was actually notable because NO ONE thought it would happen, and it shocked everyone to the point where no one had a bio prepped on him. Plus there is also the point of how well that worked out that needs mentioning. I would think a 25-year old who has hit good in the minors and plays more positions would be different than a 29-year old actually.
-
QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) I'd be willing to bet Saladino is cut and Peter is on the MLB roster for us on Opening Day. Yeah I could see that. Especially if they end up going with a 3-man bench again. Those guys who can play both IF and OF are key on the bench.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 12:22 PM) A 25 year old who couldn't even get time with this historically awful White Sox team. Teams are looking for star potential and big tools in the rule 5, not utility players. They can find those all over the place for pretty cheap. Yeah, like when we took Angel Sanchez in the Rule 5 draft like 4 years ago. (Sanchez was a 29-year old backup IF)
