QUOTE (steveno89 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 09:09 AM) Red Sox actually have enough depth that they could probably withstand a Price injury and still be contenders Can't see them being willing to drain the farm anymore though Me neither. They'd still have Sale, Porcello, Pomeranz, Wright and Rodriquez. They just wouldn't have the strong 3 like they wanted. He's seeing the TJ specialist Dr. James Andrews.

David Price undergoes MRI for soreness in his elbow. Wouldn't it be insane if he was going to miss a lot of time and the Red Sox came calling for Q? haha Very unlikely, I know, but would be insane.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) It is a repost of the same story, with a new headline. Thought so.

QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 08:56 AM) YES!!!!!!!!!!!! HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't this the exact same thing we heard yesterday from the exact same source? lol calm the excitement a bit haha

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 08:55 AM) The other thing (besides the idea that the Sox are going to do a complete 180 on what they have always done) that doesn't make sense to me here is why a team that is already over for the 2016-17 period wouldn't be willing to outspend the White Sox for this guy if he is the next Moncada? Yeah the Padres could continue adding to their stacked 2016-2017 international class. This is true. I would honestly put them as favorites over us.

QUOTE (pablo @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) Maybe a dumb question - but what if the Sox sign Robert to a 6 year deal and he spends the first two years in the minors? Would he only have 4 years left on his deal when he is brought up to the bigs? Similar question has come up with friends when discussing Moncada's contract. I know for Abreu he was signed for the 6/68 but he didn't spend any time in the minors so this didn't impact him. The money would be a signing bonus. He would have the same control as if he were a draft pick and would go through the arbitration process.
-
Until I see "White Sox interested in prospect Luis Robert" I will officially buy into the possibility haha not just speculation. None of this "could have interest."
-
If the Sox are torn between him and someone else that plays a premium position, I would hope that they would pick the guy at the premium position. Also, doesn't all this Beer talk belong in the 2018 draft discussion?
-
Oh man. Are they really down on his defense? Has he only been playing 1B this season?

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) The make or break Avi year was last season at the latest and he broke. If he's suddenly good this year, he's going elsewhere via trade. Only 2 years of control left so I agree.

QUOTE (Doc Edwards Shot @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 03:12 PM) He must have thrown too much in the offseason to be coming down with dead arm at the start of ST. More pitchers need to take a page out of Mark Buehrle's book and stop throwing completely through the winter. That could be why Mark was so durable. Possibly.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) What exactly did Peavy do to deserve your disdain? Dude was intense but he had a very serious injury and worked his ass off to overcome it and his Sox career is actually a lot better than people give him credit for. He made just 83 starts in a Sox uniform due to the injury and in those 83 starts he accumulated 10.8 fWAR. That works out to roughly 4 fWAR per full season pitched. That's pretty damn good. Looking at what we gave up for him at the time, we won that deal by a landslide.

I kinda doubt the Cardinals would pay what it would take for Q. I think it'd be more likely that they would have interest in Gonzalez.
-
QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 11:41 AM) And looking back at their careers, does anyone think they warranted their draft selection? Based on the couple responses above, yes.

Lopez and Kopech Starting Tomorrow 2/28

QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) His innings limit should be done by September without injuries, if he is a starter all year. True. But like I said, too generous of a prediction. -
There will only be a few expensive games. Was thinking of buying tickets for when they play the Royals on a weekend (their fans pack our park) or the Yankees and just selling them for more on stubhub.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) lol wut This is one of the most logically backward posts I've ever read. It's totally something they would do if they were trying to go for it and felt they were his bat away from being on top haha but this is a rebuild.

Grabbed tickets for Buehrle day!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 17, 2017 -> 12:34 PM) In all seriousness, get off of the Disney channel and Nick Jr. The PBS kids shows are a million times better than those networks. In terms of keeping them engaged and learning? I'm just asking because I have no idea.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 07:03 AM) Someone tell me if I need to buy Horizon: Zero Dawn. Just saw a commercial for it yesterday and it looked amazing. I don't have much room on my hard drive on my ps4 though.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 08:21 AM) There are many cases of guys being brought up too soon, but I don't know how Beckham is constantly used. He obviously was ready to play in the major leagues at that point and dominating the minors wasn't going to do anything for him. Maybe failure in the minors would have helped him, but it wasn't happening, and he was so rushed, he was the Sporting News ROY. These guys are going to stay down for a while no matter what, but I think that is more about service time being wasted while they totally suck then about being ready to be called up. If the White Sox weren't trying to win in 2009, Beckham probably would have stayed in Charlotte until September. That is probably what will happen here even if these guys are dominating. Yeah I don't mind waiting for them. It's not like we are trying to win next season. I'd rather have them them up in the majors with as much control as possible when they're going for it.

Lopez and Kopech Starting Tomorrow 2/28

QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 07:36 AM) There's no way. Even if his talent proves undeniable he has so far to go to build up his stamina and innings. He can't do that in September in the minors due to the season being over (unless a team is in the playoffs). I was only talking about getting his feet wet. But yeah, like I said, September 2018 is too generous. -
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 12:27 AM) I always go to Best Buy, ask for the special edition one, and then see if they will pricematch to Amazon's standard edition price of $47.99. It's worked 2 years in a row. Yeah I would do that but I'm downtown all day so I don't mind the delivery.

Lopez and Kopech Starting Tomorrow 2/28

QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 1, 2017 -> 02:02 AM) If Lopez and Moncada aren't on the MLB roster by July it's not a good sign. Giolito it would be nice to see a cameo from in late summer and September. Kopech? Kopech shouldn't sniff the bigs this year, perhaps even if he's the 2nd coming of Kerry Wood in AA. Fulmer? Hopefully he forces his way up by August. He's a 4th starter at best imo though. Not as exciting as the others mentioned. Kopech September 18 at earliest I would say and that's probably being too generous.
