Rodon to IL with Shoulder Fatigue
That's really what I think this is. Sucks he isn't going tomorrow, but this almost seems like this specific DL trip was always part of the plan.

The same reason it was a big deal when Cody Parkey missed 4 FG's for the Bears in a regular-season game but the Bears still won. It was an issue that was overshadowed because of an abundance of talent. But that issue came back to bite them at the worst possible time. That's why it's a big deal.

Playoffs are a long way away but there is no way with a straight face anyone can say Keuchle should start over Lynn-Rodon-Giolito-Cease at this point. Just zero chance.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
I see what you're saying and agree for the most part, but I wasn't trying to say you can't criticize the trade, you or anyone else has every right. I guess the question was more to the OP who said they would have expected more from a Madrigal return. In their mind, what should have the return been? What is realistic or reasonable? And were you against them going to get Kimbrell? We now know the cost of Kimbrell. If that was too much in your mind, who else would you have gone after the help improve the team, and what assets were you OK giving up? I think those are fair questions to ask.

It's not....but things are going to get a lot tougher and a lot more expensive if he doesn't.

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Let's look at some things: 1. The Sox went out and acquired Ceasar Hernandez for basically nothing. VERY early but so far the results have been promising. And we've talked ad nauseam about how 2B is the easiest position to fill on the diamond. 2. Those "10 innings" could be some of the highest leverage innings in the playoffs. Having the 2021's best RP as your setup man creates a very large advantage for you in those playoffs 3. What should have been the return for Nick Madrigal? And how are they acquiring Kimbrell or another high leverage bullpen arm? What assets are they using?

Sox Acquire Kimbrel; Madrigal, Heuer to Cubs
Bingo. Not every trade is cut and dry, winner or loser. If the Sox win a title and Nicky is a 4 WAR, cheap, top of the order hitter for the Cubs over the next 4-5 seasons.......everyone involved is happy. During the window the Sox are in, you need to take calculated risks and hope they work out. The chances are actually low that they do. The odds don't favor the Sox winning a World Series this year or next (the odds are always against you winning a World Series) but you Hahn's job is now to put this core in a position to try their best to bring home some hardware over the next few years. That's all you can ask for.

- Cesar Hernandez is getting on base for the Sox
Way too small of a sample size to draw conclusions on why the walks are up... But it's not too early to be very happy with the way Hernandez has come in and played since the trade. If this is the Ceasar the Sox are getting for the next 1.5 years, he'll out-produce Nicky in his sleep.- Eloy's Post Game Shirt - It's a Family Affair
Clubhouse seems to be off the charts right now. They've really put together an amazing group of guys, and Abreu really does seem to serve as player/coach at this point.- Robert back, Sheets Sent Down, Gonzalez Released

I really like Cesar thus far…- Sox at Twins 8/9, 7:10
In the thread Jack was posting in, I made the comment people just don’t understand what it means to add guys like Eloy/Robert/Grandal back to this lineup, which means you take out guys like Burger/Leury/Hamilton/Zavala, etc. Not saying it’s going to last…they’ll still go cold at some point…but come on.- Sox at Twins 8/9, 7:10

Come on TLR, you couldn't give us Vaughn-Robert-Goodwin with Eloy at DH at least? We gotta have Leury and Goodwin as flanks to Robert?!?! ?- 2021-22 NBA Thread

That has been mostly my approach as well, along with a few tech stocks I enjoy using myself like Roku, Take-Two, Peloton, etc. All have done pretty well for me too, but who knows what the future holds. I also realized I had too much in my savings (humblebrag?!?) and it's doing jack shit sitting there, so just put a decent amount into the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF and just let it ride for years. I feel pretty safe doing that....- IT'S LUIS ROBERT DAY!!!
I think it's Sheets as well. I don't see them getting rid of Lamb so Sheets seems like the move until September....And you're right about Sheets, there were some warts but he came up with some big hits, seems like a good kid. - Cesar Hernandez is getting on base for the Sox
