  1. I have my gripes with LaRussa, but managing players workloads and knowing what strings to pulls behind the scenes is not something I worry about with him. I’ll trust his judgment over yours in this area.
  2. I know the Cubs are a borderline AA team (Ricketts >> Jerry ?) but this Sox lineup is just relentless.
  3. Nope…he doesn’t serve any purpose right now. None.
  4. As it stands, he 100% shouldn’t. Things can change, but right now be absolutely served no purpose.
  5. Let this asshole wear it, don’t pull him
  6. Just don’t know what purpose Dallas serves in this capacity. Don’t know how you justify giving him one of the 25 spots in October.
  7. He has zero business making the playoff roster. None.
  8. Don't bother. If Kimbrel isn't closing, the deal is AWFUL. cc: @fathom
  9. Grammar aside.....I'm not disagreeing with the fact Michael Conforto has put up good numbers in the past and still may very well in the coming years. What I am saying is being on Soxtalk for well over a decade....if the Sox "star" RF put up a slash of .218/.342/.356 and was up for a new contract.....people wouldn't be screaming for his return. Seeing a player put up that line everyday for the team you root for changes things, it just does.
  10. I always love these type of posts. While I don't think either of you are wrong per say....if he was on the Sox all season and put up the numbers he has....you'd be counting the days until he's gone. But he's not on the team, you're not watching him everyday.....so it's a totally different perspective.
  11. The role thing is bullshit. He was brought into a close game, in the 8th inning, to face the heart of the order last night. If you can’t get hyped for that role, then find another profession. I can understand when a closer doesn’t have “it” when they are brought into a 9-1 game or something, but last night? Give me a break.
  12. Which is why they went out and acquired the best relief pitcher in 2021.....a move you hated.
  13. There are a lot of stupid points to unpack here. Craig Kimbrel was acquired to bolster the Sox bullpen, giving them one of the best pens in the game, shutting games down with Kopech-Kimbrel-Hendricks. Given where the Sox are in the standings and the unique lead they have in late August.......ultimately Kimbrel will hold the most value in October. You seem to be equating late August innings with the same level of importance as an 8th inning in the ALCS with the bases loaded. They aren't even close. Additionally, you have almost an indefensible statement of: "That the Sox gave up 10 years of team control for, possibly, 2 innings of baseball. Kimbrel doesn't control whether the Sox win or lose in October, he merely is a piece of the contribution." There are like 8 things wrong here. - That "10 years of control" are referring to an oft-injured slapdick hitter who won't be back until 2022, and Codi Heuer, a middle reliever who had a 5.12 ERA with the Sox in 2021 (I know you love to reference ERA for relievers, so I thought I would make it simple for you.) IN THE SAME PARAGRAPH, you reference Kimbrel doesn't control whether the Sox win or lose in October...........Then the same absolutely applies for Heuer and Madrigal, even moreso since one of them isn't even playing. You can't have it both ways, that Kimbrel doesn't matter because he's a reliever, but they gave up 10 years of control!!! for him when you're referencing Codi Heuer as part of that equation. This is a very simple topic. Craig Kimbrel has not been good with the Sox up this point. If this type of performance happens in the playoffs, he will have been a massive disappointment. If he contributes positive, dominant innings for the Sox, especially in the playoffs...it was a worthwhile gamble as the Sox gave up items that shouldn't hurt them moving forward. You didn't like the trade when it happened, and you're letting everyone know about it with Kimbrel struggling about how smart you are.
  14. This is a very good post

  16. Ahh, so now we're using ERA for set up men. Got it.
  17. Yet you've already called the trade "shit" and "awful" So which is it? ?
  18. No he didn't. That's your opinion, and a bad one, which is nothing new. Again, you're a waste of time. Luckily, the Front Office agrees with me.
  19. Because the Sox have a 9 game lead in the division and he will make his biggest impact, good or bad, in the playoffs. Yes, it would enjoy if he was pitching better right now. I have been disappointed with the outcome thus far. But if he has a dominant September and takes that into October, and helps this team win a World Series, I'm not going to call the trade awful....because I'm not an idiot. You've already decided to make that claim, because....well we know why. You're a waste of time anyway.
  20. But, you keep saying things as fact when they are your opinion.
