NONE of this matters. Who cares about 4 months ago? Do you know how much changes in 4 months? They made a move to acquire a player that they desperately needed, and he was the best one out there. And they used assets that weren’t serving a purpose for the 2021 team.
-
If they signed Donovan Solano for 2 years, you’re basically getting Nicky..
-
I really do think the window has always been 3-4 years. This is Year 1. It’s go time. They don’t win the World Series this year, you only have 2-3 more shots at it.
-
Then you’re welcome, Soxtalk

I’m interested to know what changed over the last 24 hours when the Sox were taking to the Cubs about Tepera. Was this not discussed? Did the Sox see everyone else making moves and get more aggressive?
-
If the Sox win, I hope Nicky hits .400 every year.
-
I think it comes down to this: 1. If the Sox win a World Series with Kimbrel, it's a great move. 2. If the Sox want to be big boys, they can sign Marcus Semien or any other handful of guys that will be out there and replace Nicky without blinking an eye. It only hurts if they don't replace him with talent. I love, love LOVE the White Sox going for it.

Wow, didn’t see this coming in terms of assets moved. And I don’t know what to think lol

This is 98% a great post and spot on. The only issue is not with the specific players, but general philosophy about what is actually going on today. Rays-Blue Jays-Yankees-Dodgers-Padres are all making big moves to try and bolster their rosters to give them the best chance to win the World Series. The Sox acquired a utility man and bullpen arm that might throw 25 innings for them. If wanting them to be more aggressive is wrong.... then so are the Ryas-Blue Jays-Yankees-Dodgers-Padres.
-
As others have said, if they don't make another move....they are playing to win the division and that's it. Can they win the World Series? Absoltuely. But they aren't treating the deadline like that, at all.
-
Ugh, hate having Austin Martin in this division now.
-
This is going to piss me off.
-
I think that's a fair way to put it, but I think we should all expect more than just "the minimum." I'm not asking them to make moves like the Dodgers did, but I feel like they are going to rest on the "Eloy/Robert/Grandal are going to be our deadline moves, we really didn't have to do much" line and I just can't agree with that. Don't just be OK, get greedy. Go for it. Be loaded with talent. They just don't operate that way...
-
Could be worse......We could be the Yankees.
-
Just take the L and save some innings on his arm
-
I want another arm and/or catcher.

Ugh, wrong Cub!

August is a tough schedule and people are going to absolutely meltdown around here when they lose games to good teams.
-
Sort of feel like this clip is relevant on a day like today with this lineup...
-
This is the only issue I have with it. But honestly, I don't hate the thought process by TLR. It's going to be awful out there today, and the Sox have already had enough hamstring issues.....with this divison lead...they can do things like this from time to time.

Cesar Hernandez traded to White Sox, Konnor Pilkington to CLE

It should. I was convinced (and still am) Colorado is going to be asking for a package of prospects deserving of trading for a star.........which Story is far from. Especially on the White Sox. I'm glad they passed.
