Yes. This is bad news. The Sox don't need Eloy because they have Brian Goodwin and Billy Hamilton
-
I'd be shocked if that doesn't win them the division. Obviously would love for them to play better than .500 ball for the rest of the season......but to your point....they may not have to. Here is the other thing people need to remember but of course won't because we have no emotional control. Things are probably going to get rough after the ASB for the Sox. They have a stretch in August where it's Yankees, A's, Rays, Blue Jays, Cubs. Obviously the Cubs will have sold by then, but those games are always weird. They probably won't have a great record in that stretch, and fans will freak out. But again.....it really doesn't matter. As long as the pitching stays healthy and these guys are ready for October (Rodon, Kopech, Crochet especially).....if Eloy-Robert-Grandal can actually come back for the playoffs.......it's a whole different team. Just get there.

Just keep collecting W's. Only thing that matters at this point is making the playoffs. Whole new ballgame once that happens and hopefully (?)Eloy, Robert, Grandal are back, along with some reinforcements to really make them a force. Just keep the W's coming.

Good for the Sox. Big boy move, and the right one.

Billy, my goodness

I was one of those guys. (I didn't say "easily" but I thought he could be fine and not require Hahn going out to get someone) I was very wrong.

This Gio reminds me of 2006 Buehrle.

They need to sign him for like 100 more years. I adore him

I can’t think of a phrase that better fits this situation: Consider the source. -
Of course it's a talent issue. Hanh built a great, but thin roster. However, as I've said before....I don't know a ton of teams that are built to "withstand" basically season-injuries from 3 offensive starters (two of which were being counted on as top contributors) and still be holding down 1st place. This team is in a bad spot right now. And I'm coming around to the idea of acting now instead of waiting. I didn't think it would get this bad. It has. If they play this way against the Twins, it could get really hairy.

lol, yes, this fully healthy team is just "going thru the motions"

No they aren't. If you want to play "I don't have any facts, but I'll just go with my gut." then I'll play as well. People are full of shit. They aren't suddenly "afraid" of the vaccine, they are following what their friends and favorite politicians say on Facebook. I'm willing to bet there is a large swath of people who are "afraid to take the vaccine" are also spilling cigarette ash on their keyboard while they share their thoughts on social media about how they won't put something potentially harmful into their bodies. Saw this yesterday as well. Terribly sad as this guy should still be alive, but Fox News and Facebook killed him.

I mean, you aren't getting away with that pitch to an MLB hitter 9 times out of 10. Just brutal.

What are you competing for in the next few weeks? Because those next "few weeks" consist of Seattle, Minnesota, Detroit, Minnesota, Baltimore. Then the ASB. At that point you're at July 16th. 1. The Sox do have people returning or planning to, but that's still up in the air. Everyday that goes by, that picture becomes clearer of when they will infact be back 2. Something else could happen. Given the Sox limited resources to make a deal, what happens if they lose a SP for the season? With Eloy and Robert poised to return, do you use the bullets you were going to spend on Escobar for an arm on July 20th? Don't know..but waiting helps make that puzzle easier to figure 3. I just don't see them collapsing so badly to the Indians over the next few weeks. Yes, this team is 100% hurting right now and the lineup is pretty week. You also have a number of top performers in slumps that I'm hopeful they break out of against some bad teams. Lastly, as others have mentioned, I don't think Hahn is being "passive" I think he's monitoring the market and being the Sox normally aggressive self, but is obviously going to try and make the right deal. And the key is he has some cushion to wait if need be.

I hope the media keeps pushing.

Don't let facts and numbers get in the way of your inaccurate feelings! God forbid!
