  1. I’m as optimistic about Vaughn as the next guy, but come on. Abreu was a good hitting major league first baseman last year. Even draft year fatigue considered, Vaughn struggled in A-ball. If he can hit like Abreu as a finished product we should be happy.
  2. Pipeline has his change as a 60 pitch - better than his slider. But they seem to be an outlier there. Still odd to see one outlet say his change is a plus and another say it’s near non-existent. his slider certainly looks good. Haven’t seen his change at all though, myself.
  3. George Costanza found a way for the Yankees to get Bonds and Griffey in the same outfield, and they didn’t really have to give up that much!
  4. The sax solo from Baker Street.
  5. I was right the first time. This ban applies to gatherings and events that require city permits. It doesn’t apply to sports teams.
  6. I’m not 100%, but I believe the June 30 date means the city won’t be approving any permits for public gatherings before that date. If the virus miraculously disappears (not bloody likely) before then, I believe the Jays will be good to go. I’ll try to dig more into this but I think that’s the deal. Edit: Nevermind, I think it’s both.
  7. This one is even worse. And the first comment.... jesus
  8. If I remember right, Quintana struggled while his extension was being discussed. Maybe something similar where he’s just a little distracted. But more likely it’s typical meaningless spring training stuff.
  9. Starting to warm to the idea of Puig because he’ll probably come cheap, and this offseason could/should come as one hell of a wakeup call and maybe he’ll be extra motivated.
  10. That’s a pretty bad trade for Minnesota.
  11. I don’t think it’s that hard to grasp. On borderline pitches someone who stabs at the ball and someone who absorbs the ball can be the tipping point between a called strike or called ball. no matter how good an umpire is, the game moves fast and calls are made fast. Little things help.
  12. Theo did something similar in Boston. Ended a long drought With savvy moves and then seemingly got lazy and threw around money recklessly.
  13. We were resigned to him for a couple years already.
  14. A lot of the little things that give him extra value aren’t things typically valued a lot in arbitration. That could change in the next cba, but I’d wait and see.
  15. Bagwell was 205 in 1994. Same as Frank. Didn’t meet the PA threshold here, but pretty great guess.
  16. Probably leury to start the season and Madrigal once he’s up.
